Lol. I was so relieved when I found it. Justin saved the day when he let me borrow two of his lights. That would have been a cool long exposure with me holding the lights above my head and zigzagging across the playa.

I have several frames from when you were doing that.. but you were so far out there it just looks like light blobs.

a 3 image focus stack...one of the harder astro images I have ever done...one image for the first rock, one for the next and one for the mountains/stars...my final PSD file was nearly 2GB....

Great shot Travis.

So whats the story with these ricks? Does water carry them until it drys up and thats where they stop leaving the track behind?

For those of you considering the weather station I just purchased, I wanted to share a quick update regarding the slow clock on my new weather station display. I contacted Acurite Support via 'live chat' and it was suggested that I go into the menu on the display and do a 'Factory Reset'. While this deleted the weather history stored in the device (but not on Weather Underground) and any custom settings, it does seem to have done the trick. The clock is keeping perfect time after nearly 24 hours from doing the reset. At the time I did the reset, it was slow by 46 minutes.

Oh, the 'future forecast' nighttime image on the display appears to be showing the current phase of the moon too. This image, for both day and night, is animated as well. :-)

Glad to hear the issue is resolved. I should just drive over to check out out. I'm currently in Anaheim haha

Ask your self is there anything I could not get/shoot with the Batis, that the Sony would have.

Ask your self, do I want or do I need.

Besides f1.4 vs f2, the way the two render could be another factor.

Good luck with your choice

Astro. But am I willing to pay double for that. I don’t think so

Thanks!

They move when a series of rare events happens in the right order...winter rain that floods the plays, followed by freezing temps at night and a windy warmer day the next day that starts to thaw the ice, it cracks up and the wind blows the sheets of ice, dragging the rocks...

Rented an a7III for a wedding this weekend. It's easily the best camera dollar for dollar. a7riii has the resolution and a9 has its af system and 20fps, but those are sort of specialty needs. a7III does most of what the more expensive cameras do, for quite a bit less money.

Also rented the 16-35 F4. GM cost twice as much to rent, so went with the cheaper one. Really nice and compact, and IQ seems more than good enough. Would prefer F2.8 vs F4 though when light got low. The new tammy seems like the perfect compromise between focal range, size, and price.

The Tamron pretty much stays glued on my a7iii. I'm happy with the combo for wedding work and everyday use

That’s great! Planning to get the 17-28mm as well?

What’s the a7iii af speed like compared to the a7riii? Does it just feel the same or does it have an edge?

The a7 III is such an incredible bang-for-buck performer that it’s hard to decide between it and a9.

I’m curious as to how much worse a9 image quality is vs a7 III.

It feels the same for something like a wedding. To be fair, I couldn't tell the difference between the a9 and a7riii AF system either, though I never fully utilized its tracking capabilities.

That live AF coming to the a9 looks super intelligent though.

I think the a9 technically has worse IQ on paper....DR took a minor hit because the sensor readout was optimized for speed and theres some data clipping involved. Probably not any different t in real world shooting though.
