I think I'll pass on the Haggis, thanks just the same. :p

Looking at the steaks offered at the ASDA market, I was surprised at how lean the beef steaks appear. I think our steaks are too lean now and certainly not like I remember when I was young.

Here's a quick pic of a Porterhouse steak I plan on grilling later today. It's graded USDA Choice whereas Prime is the ideal.

Dad used to say the only bit of the pig you don't use is the squeal.
I think I believe that after couple trips to Hawaii.
Boy, they eat some stuff! I was amazed - pigs ears  and all sorts of stuff- testicles
I'v eaten tripe, liver, heart, lung, brains, sweetbread (thymus gland) but not some of that!!!

chicken testicles from grilled meals, my wife eats it all day :-P

I didnt know what it was till she told me. They are surprisingly big for an animal that size.

Years ago, my dad used to enjoy Rocky Mountain Oysters when they were 'in season'. The steak restaurant he went to was owned by a cattle ranch and whenever they castrated the calves, Rocky Mountain Oysters became the pick of the day on the menu.:lol:

Thanks for the input on my Mission Concepcion image that I posted recently. Here is the final edited version. I desaturated the agave plant a bit and added several gradients to darken it. I think this looks more balanced to me now.

Canon 24mm TSE shifted down. 4 image focus stack

Yes, now the agave frames the mission behind it rather than distract from it by grabbing more attention.

Nice size with the 35za too, just a pity the effective dof is around f/4 or it would be a more appealing combo. Interested to see how much better the 6400 focus is if the 6500 is already good

Yeah the biggest issue with the aps-c sony bodies is the lack of fast glass that would bring FF equivalents in a smaller size. i.e. My second shooter shoots fuji...23mm f1.4 and 56 f1.4 which are 35mm f2 and 85 1.8 equivalents. But his gear is MUCH smaller and the optical quality is there.

I'd honestly add fuji as a casual system but really don't want to jack with multiple systems. I'd totally be cool with Sony APS-C but they really have neglected the aps-c glass.

Tried making some here in our youthful days.
Made it with traditional bits and pieces.
Looked alarming as it bubbled and shook in the pot, with the excess waving around above the steam :p

Wish I had a photo. Probably freak you Scottish blooded people out? that's not how it's done!
We had an old recipe book of dad's from the Old Country

We ate it, but didn't repeat such. I just mentioned to dear wife. Response was "Oh Yeah"

Tinned haggis? Are you serious? Do they make it?

Genuinely it’s nice. When you go to a burns supper they bring the fresh haggis out and someone performs the “address to a haggis” after the haggis is bag piped in. You are then served haggis for dinner but it’s normally tinned due to the sheer numbers of people they are serving. If you haven’t seen this event YouTube address to a haggis to see the full experience. It’s worth a watch

it sounds interesting, there's this really odd vietnamese dish that's filled with a bunch of stuff similar to this Haggis. Same concept of a bunch of stuff, and it was only recently I noticed ear cartilage as one of the ingredients :-P, pretty sure there's tongue in there as well, a lot of leftover type stuff.

Tourists often think the haggis is a real animal like a bird or something . We obviously don’t correct when they ask about it :)

Right. Mm. I watched 3. Serious stuff indeed. Thanks for pointing me there.
Quite educational.

I'll bet there's some leg pulling when they ask what animal. LOL.

Thanks for the info on the "Address to a Haggis" Youtube videos Eddie, I had no idea. It wasn't long after beginning to watch one that a translation was in order. I soon discovered that the person in question at a "Burns supper" was the Scottish poet Robert Burns who brought us "auld Lang Syne" as well. I also found a written version of his poem in Scots as well as an English translation.

http://www.robertburns.org.uk …Poems_Songs/toahaggis.htm (external link)

I'd still pass on trying the dish though. :-)

Then somehow, I wound up watching "DUELING PIPERS" :p
