Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

Sorry for all the video chat in a photography thread! But really loving editing on the iPad Pro. I’m sitting here while my son is in his taekwondo class for an hour editing a video in LumaFusion. Normally I’d be sitting bored in the coffee shop killing time. I haven’t even tried to edit a photo in lightroom on it yet but hoping it’s as good an experience.

Charlie - after you make a video do you delete all the source clips and just keep the final article?

I got up early after looking out the window and saw snow on the ground outside our hotel in Santa Fe. I spent a few hours shooting around the plaza. It was quite windy which wasn't ideal for shooting so early in the morning. As a result, some of the lights and foliage moved. I couldn't decide if I prefer the color or black and white version so I'll share both.

I simply delete it, transfer the final to my macbook and from there to my NAS, I only have a 32GB Ipad I edit from, and that gets FULL FAST

Currently I dont keep any original footage, it's too much to backup.

I'm running some gopro tests, and it does seem very promising, short vid on the intended use and getting a feel for it.

Was that 30x time warp? Also is that all shot 2.7k linear? Looks good!

I've just found an SD card......

yeah, 30x is too fast, going to need to do 15x, and if too slow, I can speed up in post. For whatever reason, faster speed is more smoother. Like doing a real hyperlapse, it's beneficial to go slow and let time do the work for you. Will experiment some more. Timeware is 4K, the rest is 2.7K linear.

it's nice, and not really that far off from photos. You can create presets like you do for photos, it's all good fun.

I honestly never thought i would enjoy it this much. Went to Europe for 4 days without a camera and didn’t regret it which is crazy

Glad you've got it going. I remember the breakthrough was the most challenging part, figuring out the basics and the video mental block as something too difficult or challenging. The R3 in particular is such an amazing video camera once you really start digging into its video features, shockingly amazing, and I have presets 2, 3, video mode, s&q, all dedicated to video . Having custom buttons in video mode specifically...... simply amazing, missing a ton of those features on the A9, and dying without them. Picture profiles, I can get around with LUT's, but that would be very useful as well.

Video is a whole new world, rewarding as hell. Still difficult to make something really worthwhile, but I LOVE scheming up videos to make. Welcome to the rabbit hole, sliders, multi angle takes, external mic, all waiting for you If the mini slider in my travel kit didnt make sense previously, it should now

a7r video still seems alien to me at the moment but I guess it will be a natural progression. Still need to get my head around colour grading too. With regards to sliders the osmo pockets Motionlapse function should hopefully keep me away from sliders at the moment. Really need to get using that function

So here’s my first attempt at a video. It ended up being 5 mins long as it was 4 days worth of footage from Prague. For those that can be bothered watching it please give honest feedback. Disclaimer - this is my first time using LumaFusion, it’s only my second ever video I’ve created and I also haven’t colour graded as I don’t know how to yet
