Hey Vinz...did you get the commercial FAA drone license? How long did it take to study, take the exam and get your paperwork that allowed you to fly for commercial purposes...and did you get any special insurance for doing that?

Obviously rules will differ country to country but I done the theory part last week. Two days (intense!) course and exam at the end. Now I need to book in a slot for my practical flight test. Following that I submit my operations manual to the CAA (civil aviation authority) which then allows them to issue me with a pfco (permission for commercial operations). I then require drone insurance to provide minimum £1million public indemnity insurance to carry out any commercial work

The course was an absolute eye opener. I can understand now how they try and clamp down on drone use by people that haven’t done it

Question for the Osmo Pocket users. When you use the device without a phone what is the lowest FPS you can select I.e not using pro mode? I just realised mine is 25fps and wondering if it’s to do with pal vs ntsc. I can get 24 but need to use pro mode. 4 days in Prague the other weekend and I thought I was shooting in 24 and it was actually 25

Did you do the firmware update Eddie? You can now do some pro mode toggles without attaching to a phone.

Not sure if you can toggle PAL vs NTSC though. On the software side, this thing is kinda dumb

Yeah it’s fully updated and now gives me 25fps without pro mode. Just wondering if you guys are getting 24fps without pro

Edit - I managed to find where to change my location to the states and it still didn’t give me 24fps natively but just wanted to check with you guys.

Oh yeah I checked it...yeah only 25fps without pro mode. Good news is that it stays in pro mode now after accidentally flipping to photo mode. I HATED that.

When I was shooting this one Poof asked if I got one.
I said I got 30. Can't wait to see the new AF improvements
and this was in not so great light.

Yes I took it Feb 15 and fortunately passed it. Right now I have a temporary license. The FAA is slow right now. I think it's because of the government shutdown. I can start using my temp now. My license number is still pending. I'm just waiting for that so I can start shopping for insurance.

I took an online class from the following

https://www.uavgroundschool.com/ (external link)

the time to study depends on you actually.

aside from that I also have an app called Remote Pilot. It's sample test but also explains your right and wrong answers.

There's no practical flight test in the U.S. it's more of the rules, weather, risk, air space, etc.

Added a Porsche 356 style oil filler and a decklid stand off (props the lid open) to allow more airflow to cool down the engine compartment.

My 1965 was never intended to look pretty. Acceptable standards of 11.90's in the 1/4 mile at 109 mph. She only goes approx 4.5 seconds 0-60mph. I use to rev her to about 8300 rpm but I decided to granny shift in the 1/4 at 5500 rpm and produced same amount of HP. Goes to show how camshaft profile and cross sectional size of the cylinder intake ports are all about calculation. I could generate more HP if I had bigger intake ports but then I loose driveability of my street car. I do miss 1.5 feet wheelies with this car. Now I just drive my 65 to Carb's and Coffee meets and car shows.

Random confession: I have been a closet admirer of the weird Sony 100mm GM.

At first I didn’t appreciate that it can’t crush a background like a faster lens can. But it does something I rather love: it punches its subjects out from from the background. Not exactly a 3d rendering, but a very cool look imo.

I follow various lens groups on Flickr, including most all of the GM lenses, but the 100mm GM image group is my favorite.

Doubtful, atm, I’ll buy one, but I admit wishing I had one.

Can't watch now (work/firewall) but it really is hard to believe it can get any better......but the forums (FM) say yep it is even way better.
But honestly the intervalometer is what I look forward too and I really like the 'folder' view of multiple captures on the A7Riii and A7iii. Being able to rate
will be a positive too. AND I'm just now realizing that the a9 will get even more contrast detect points across the frame? I hope that is true too.
