Night skies from the other week when me & Keiran went out one early evening after I bought him the A6000 & 12/2

Here's Keiran's Instagram which I think he's put a few of his photos on - https://www.instagram.com/keiran_ratcliffe1811/ (external link)

This image was obviously on the A7 with the CV21 at f/4 which I didn't think was too bad considering......!!

I’ve been following your story Lee of getting your son the a6000 to start shooting with, if I may ask how old he is?

My oldest daughter who just turned 6 has been watching me with cameras all her life, going through cameras and lenses throughout the years. She told me her favorite one that I had was the a6xxx family, when I asked her why, she said because she could see my face, which I guess is a benefit to the corner EVF where my face isn’t blocked by the camera like most center viewfinders are.

She’s been asking me to get her a camera as well so she can go out shooting with me. I’ve started to have more 1:1 time with my girls since it seems like they’re growing up so fast and we spend all the time together as a family, so every other week my wife and I try to have a date with each of our girls, so one will take the older one and one will take the younger one and we switch off the following week.

Not surprisingly the younger one wants me to have tea parties and play with dolls with her. Or she’ll ask me to go to the playground with her. But the older one started with asking me to take her to Dave and Busters to the arcade or to play with dolls has asked me to go on camera dates with her, with the last one we actually went to the local camera store together, lol.

So while I was looking into getting the a6000 for her, I remember I bought my dad the a5100 2 years ago because he swore he needed it for a trip to the Grand Canyon. He ended up taking 10 pictures with it, spent the rest of the time using his phone and hasn’t touched it since. So I’m going to get it back from him to give to her which I’m sure she’ll love using and the easier control scheme with the selfie screen she would love.

Ended up ordering a small bag that was meant for one of those larger Instax cameras which I think it’ll fit.

Sorry for this long story, but just a proud dad this morning!

Love what you are doing with them both. They do grow up too quickly. My daughter is 15 today! I've bought her some "young driver" lessons for her birthday! Eeekk....

Keiran is 13. He is pretty technically minded and has pretty much grasped the basics instantly starting straight off in manual mode. I think the A5100 is a very similar camera but with no EVF iirc Certainly a good starter anyway.

This is beautiful. I've only done the mission tour on a bus which is the very quick version and they deserve more attention.

Thank you Bill. Yes, they are fantastic to explore on foot.

I am going to search for a case/cage that allows the door to be opened to connect the power cable. Fully removing that wee door worries me as I’m not sure a replacement can be bought and I use it connected to power when driving. I saw cheap ones on amazon so thinking have a permanent one on the yun and another on the window mount (only used inside the vehicle) and then just switch the actual camera between them. I just need to check if I can get one that the door can open

The one I use works well, everything has been sold so far, no rattles: https://www.amazon.com …?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share (external link)

They're all over eBay for even less, got the first through Amazon, wanted it quick, however my second/third will come from eBay.

Stayed there many times. Had one of my photos of the hotel years ago used in a San Antonio brochure. You are really making me want to plan a trip there.

Congrats on the brochure Bill. That's really cool. It's a beautiful hotel. I've not stayed there. I hope you can make a return visit. You'll be surprised by how much renovation work is going on around town.

On our last day in Santa Fe, we took a drive out to Anderson Overlook near Los Alamos. The view is beautiful but even more so when the conditions are right. I was fortunate to have clouds roll in and a break in them for the sun to light up the cliffs.

Haven't been posting much lately due to work demands. Lack of interest in photography due to exhaustion. BUT... I did manage to attend my youngest first dance competition. This was a low key event so photography was allowed so I had to dust off the best combo I had to get this. She managed to get 2nd overall and got Platinum scoring. I couldn't tell you what all that meant but she got up there and rocked it and made daddy proud

Beautiful shot David. Awesome light and reflection. Meant to comment on your other one too. Really nice light.

Thanks Alfredo! This was a difficult edit for me. Hard to capture what I saw and get colors somewhat right. It really was the most brilliant golden light I've ever tried to photograph. And it posed a challenge as the camera auto WB just couldn't cope with the colorful light - had a hard time getting the plant greens to not be radioactive green after semi-correcting the WB. I certainly wanted that golden light in my final edit, but didn't want a monochrome gold image for this.

EDIT: I re-uploaded the darkened version using a basic curve adjustment and to shift some of the sky blues away from cyan.
