If you mean did I ever go to the top of Diamond Head, no. I did do a lot of body surfing at Makapuʻu Beach and snorkling at Hanauma Bay.

Looking at Oahu on Google Map's satellite view, it's amazing to me just how much the island has changed. I don't recall any housing areas anything like it is now from Diamond Head to Makapu Point. Heck, even surfing at Mākaha, there was no housing there at all either.

I went to Hanauma bay which was really nice, I didn't take my camera to there or Diamond Head though. Yeah I was surprised at all the housing, there's heaps right near Diamond Head too.

I was away for a 4 day trip last weekend with the family in the campervan. I made the video below on Lumafusion using drone and GoPro footage. Theres also still images in there taken on the a7rIII that I key framed to add some motion.

Its 6 minutes long but if anyone can be bothered watching id appreciate the feedback. (Needs sound and a solid internet connection to keep the sound synced). Oh and I have spotted a glitch around the 3:20 mark so will have to re-upload later.

Great video Eddie, I left a comment and subscribed on the YouTube :D I like how you added the timelapses in the Mavic seemed to do well as that wind at the start looked really strong.
I guess from the UK you don't really get to wear shirts much but nice sleeve, never noticed it before haha

David - have you seen these? They are about twice the price of a similar size usb 3 flash drive but they allow you to directly attach storage to the iPad as it has a lightning connector on one end. What I’m unsure of though is if you could adapt that to usb-c or not but it gives me hope something will be released that is usb-c already. I’ll stick with the Rav Power in the mean time

https://www.amazon.co.uk …disk+i&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 (external link)

No I had not seen that and I really appreciate you pointing it out. Nice to have options! Since, at the moment, I’m only culling and editing LR smart previews I have no actual storage needs, but if I get going with video too (and I should!) then I’ll start having some external storage needs.

BTW, at some point I need to visit the Apple store and have them replace my iPad Pro. It has developed a slight blue blotch on part of the screen. It’s only visible on a solid black background. I’m wondering if it wasn’t caused by my iPad case. The case has a storage sleeve for the Pencil on the back and the location of the blue blob aligns with where the Pencil tip is when in the sleeve. I won’t be storing the Pencil there any more.

Thank you Lee! It was unreal to me too. Would love to explore more of the southwest.

Thanks Gene! I hope to get it by June this year. Do you own it?

I do, as well as the 1.5 and 2x tele extenders. AF is a bit slow with the 2x on my rIII but almost as fast as the lens only with the 1.5 extender.

Eddie, if you ever want to add a map to your videos, here's how you can animate following generated routes on Google Earth. You could have a map at the beginning, or whenever you go from one location to another with an animated map of your route.

The kids are loving this video, I think they have watched it about 6 times today :D . They don’t give my photos a second glance

Meant to comment on this earlier, but you're absolutely right about the family valuing videos more than photos. This is the reason I picked up the osmo pocket, though TBH, I've done a terrible job of documenting things lately.

Yup, exactly. I show the family pictures and they’re bored to watch, the second a video clip shows up and they’re super interested.

it's super tough breaking into the rhythm of video. FB stories, force yourself to the 20 second limit, and experiment with smartphone.

I already updated my A7III as soon as it was announced and made a slight mistake.

I changed my customer functions to remove Eye-AF but realized you still need it.

I think this may have been mentioned before but it's disappointing auto Eye-AF doesn't really work in flexible spot as well but I think this could be refined.
For example the subject is in the center of the frame and you're in flexible spot with the box in the bottom right of the frame. The Eye AF button will still automatically detect the eye but in auto Eye AF it won't.

I mostly shoot in Wide Zone which auto Eye AF works flawlessly and I think it was more designed for this mode.

I've change my Custom functions back now so that AEL is Eye AF and C4 switches between human and animal.

After installing the newest firmware for my a7rIII, ver.3.00, I tried auto animal eye AF by focusing on an image of mine on Flickr. Alas, it didn't produce a small square on the eye of any hummer I tried it on. Maybe they will add birds, or at least hummingbirds in the future. It seems to work fine when detecting a dogs eye.

I've just treated myself while shopping today to a SanDisk Extreme SDHC UHS-1 90MB's card :)

Not a big deal you may think....... But a bit of an update from the SanDisk Ultra SDHC 15MB's one I've always been using

See, GAS doesn't have to be expensive :)

I have been eyeing either a faster Astro lens or a tracking mount though.......

I do the same every time I see the PNY cards on sale. Always end up getting 64GB cards for $12-13 each, next time I’ll splurge for the 128GB card for $23-24.
