I do the same every time I see the PNY cards on sale. Always end up getting 64GB cards for $12-13 each, next time I’ll splurge for the 128GB card for $23-24.

I think (and I could be wrong here) but I think the existing card may have came from my old Canon 450D...... In which case that would have been 2009..... If not 2014 when I switched the the A7 - 5D2 was CF I'm sure of it....?

After a bit of trial and error I think I’ve found a near perfect bag for my needs. Initially I returned the peak design 10L sling as I thought it was too big and tried the 5L. The 5L was too small so I returned that too. I then tried numerous sling bags on amazon but none were quite right. Eventually I re-ordered the 10L and gave it a second shot. So glad I did. Now that I’ve got it set up the way I want it ticks pretty much every box. Such a well thought out bit of kit. With the addition of the capture clip on the side (on the tab especially for it) it’s a joy to use when out and about. I’ve currently got my camera with 4 lenses, GoPro on a stick, osmo and iPad Pro all in there and once on the back and tightened up I hardly notice it’s there. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a sling style bag

Okay, had a couple of hours today so I went down to the waterfront to "shoot " some birds. My hats off to Robert and every other bird photographer out there, birds are much harder to shoot than I could every imagine. Here are a couple of shots taken at 300mm most at f 2.8.

Thanks...might be a good one for me as well. Been thinking about one. I currently use a 5L and 10L Thinktank bag, and I like having both sizes. I pack my Loxia/CV kit in the 5L and my AF lenses in the 10L. But like the aesthetic, design, and build of the PD slings.

One thing to keep in mind David is that your iPad won’t fit in the 10L sling I don’t think (mine is the 11”). Something to maybe check if you were planning on packing that in there too

There's nothing interesting about this photo unless you understand how autofocus systems would typically behave in this type of situation....it's pretty amazing how sticky this realtime eye-AF is even when the face gets partially obstructed. Lesser AF systems would have jumped to the hand...old-school eye AF would have likely lost the eye and stopped focusing. Yet this new AF system keeps things in focus even when your subject moves or is obstructed.

I've been playing with realtime eye-AF with the kids, and the hit rate on the eye is extremely high...more-so than before. Literally 100% in the shots that I've taken with my kids and we all know how hard that can be. Having tracking limited to the AF area is still a limitation IMO, but the real-time eye-AF is so good at prioritizing the eye that it doesn't miss its mark, and it does a very good job of toggling between different AF modes depending when the face is turned or obstructed and still approximating where the eye should be (as is the case with the photo below). Obviously if you have multiple faces in the frame you'd want to specify who the AF system focus on, and that's where the limited AF area with eye-AF is advantageous.

Same here.

I can now free up my AEL button to something other than eyeAF. I typically use wide for portraits/singles and then flexible spot L for groups and tag the face I want. This new instant eyeAF makes me have wet dreams. My wife is blown away too. The A7III will be a 5 year camera for her. I see no reason to upgrade my R3 either.

Yeah I'm just setting the AF area to wide and letting real-time eye-AF do its thing as it's so much better at finding and focusing on the eye now. No worrying about the AF system pausing when the eye is lost.

I think selectable AF points are a special circumstance now, and whenever it's necessary because there are multiple faces in the frame, I can quickly flip that on.

Yup. I use my center button to toggle between the two modes. Works like a champ.

Back onto other gear. I've been wanting to offload the 100-400GM but I find myself using it alot. So torn on this lens.

The Peak Design 10L is a great bag, I enjoyed using mine when I had one. You’re right that if you wear it high and tight it stays out of the way. I have a broader shoulders and let’s say that the dad bod has been inching its way more into my life so I started to prefer a mail carrier like sling bag. Main difference is instead or wearing high and tight, you wear it low and loose. Lowepro makes one in the Passport sling. It looks like a diaper bag but I bought the Sony version LCS-SB1 a few years back and once I swapped out the insert (the standard one is way too flimsy), it does the job. Holds my gear, throw it to the back when walking, sling it to the front when I need my gear.

For years I have been using a retrospective 5 and a F stop Shibata messenger bag. I wear the strap across the chest diagonally but recently got really sick of the thing swinging about when you lean over. I always need to remember to hold the bag behind my hip if I lean over to pick up the kids etc. I’m liking the sling for the fact I don’t need to think about it and it stays where it should.
