Honestly for all the short-comings of the original a7/a7r, those cameras were fun as hell to shoot with.
In the current state of photography, camera makers need a diverse set of offerings because the market is becoming smaller, but increasingly more segmented. Also....photographers now buy multiple cameras for different, and multiple overlapping product offerings isn't necessarily a cannibalization risk, but an opportunity to add incremental sales. I'd totally buy an updated OG a7 as a 'daily driver' type camera. I don't need to carry a $5k camera set-up when I'm just out with the kids...nor do I need world beating performance all the time.
As much as I love my a7r III, my original a7 paired with the FE 28 and FE 55 was a really fun travel setup.

. I'm away at the end of May and I'm hoping to have it with me to take by that time.

I guess it's good that you were listening to it at the same time but unfortunately I'm not familiar with that song, will have to look it up.
