Flickr is so buggy now its borderline unusable. I wish there was an alternative site that had bbcode built in for choosing different sizes of image

Eddie, that’s why I use SmugMug.

Thanks Alfredo. I didn’t realise smugmug allowed you to choose the size of the photo but I see it does. I’m going to Florida tomorrow but will check out smugmug on my return

And of course, SmugMug now owns Flickr.

Sounds good Eddie. I don't think I'll renew my Flickr Pro account.

Yep that's true. Who knows what the future holds for Flickr. I have been happy with the reliability and functionality of Smugmug though. Just wish they had a different name.

I agree with a name change. I've used SmugMug longer than Flickr and don't want to give it up because I have some photo albums linked to my USS Oriskany website hosted there as well as embedded slide shows. Maybe I should dump Flickr and just use Smugmug for everything. It's becoming more difficult for me to justify having both now that Flickr requires a 'Pro' membership to host more than 1000 images.

I struggle to understand what smugmug is. It’s pretty much just a portfolio hosting site, right? I go to the smugmug website to browse photos but all I see is marketing info about their plans and no link for just viewing photos. I may be missing something.

David, yes it's similar to Squarespace and Zenfolio. It's a place to host your portfolio but I don't use it for that necessarily. I use it to store my images online. Many of my folders are private but I can still share out images from there. My main portfolio is on SquareSpace.

That suits me fine, I don’t browse photos on Flickr anymore anyway. I just use it as a photo store for posting on here and to allow my family to view the photos of the kids

Testing out the GM 135 today, weather was really crappy and all I had for a model was my old guy Casey. Animal eye autofocus is really something else !

For those who have tried animal eye af, are you just leaving it at that settings for humans too? It seems to work (doesn’t work for animals when set to humans though). Wondering if I need to toggle it or not. Can’t tell if it doesn’t work as well as it should

Never tried actually, I assumed it wouldn't work. I thought about adding the toggle to my menu list but I don't shoot animals often enough to really go through that trouble.

I haven’t tested fully but in my limited testing around the house animal eye af seems to work on people.
