Haven’t been able to test my new lens yet. Weather and other life obstacles getting in my way. vmad

Re: 24GM...hoping to make it my next addition. Optically the Sigma 24mm would suit me well, but I just don’t want a heavy lens when a smaller lighter lens that’s just as good is available.

Hah I was sure you got the 24. Now my guess is that you got something that rhymes with "some dirty chive"

I rented the Sigma 24 a couple months back, its smaller than it looks, but still large for an FE prime.

24GM is notably smaller. I don't consider it compact like the Loxia is, but its a manageable size for everyday shooting.

My latest acquisition being tested, test footage included

I got the weebill lab, very quirky gimbal, lame build quality, but the features are super interesting. Also have a variable ND, and I dont like it's behavior, so will need to measure how many stops I need and get a solid.

Cool video Charlie, that’s one busy fishing pond! I like the keyed transitions near the end and the last clip is a nice way to end too

Looks good Charlie. Nice, smooth footage and nicely put together. You can always tell if I like a video because I'll watch until the end, and I did :-)

it's called frame blocking, where you have actual objects masking scenes.

currently my favorite transition ;-)a

you need to take into consideration when filming

Here’s the first video of our Florida trip which covers the first 4 days. Going to have to do it in parts as it’s already 6 mins long in this video. Haven’t started editing the next one yet

Two super family videos...love'm both.

I'm envious that I didn't have the same capabilities when my family was young. My grandkids video their kids using a phone mostly now.

I do plenty of phone videos and I’de say current phones are even better than dedicated camcorders 10 years back. Assembling a watchable video can be more challenging, and probably the biggest barrier into creating videos.

I remember when camcorders recorded to tape lol, I have a box of tapes never converted. Almost like 35mm film

For any low light stuff I use the Osmo pocket so that I don’t need to mess with the low light settings on the GoPro. There’s a bit of noise at times but it’s always smooth.

With regards to assembling a watchable video I really can’t do it without music. I tried one with just the clips but it gets boring fast. I can only imagine how much more boring it would be for others watching it

hi guys, i have a quick buffer question,,,,ok long story short i normally shoot with a fast sony 100mbs card, anyways it was full and i didnt have time to format before an event so i popeed in a slow class 10 old card, i was happly shooting away in single fire mode then the action got more heavy and i turned to med burst mode,
i could see my bursts taking time to wtrite to the card which i never see with the sony card,
now i am editing the photos i see i am missing some of the photos i know i took,,,, if the biffer was full and i kept firing would the new photos taken while buffer was writing be deleted or not saved at all??
its a mysery why i am missing some photos i knew i took, i know i had focus and flash fired but the photos are not on the card,,,, could a slow card cause this issue,,,, i am stumped and thats my only answer.,, any thoughts

Great vids Charlie/Eddie.

You guys really make me want to take video more seriously. Just so many mental blocks around it. I am shooting random clips with the Osmo for documentary purposes, but never do anything creative with them.

Thanks Carlo. If you have an iPad powerful enough (or an iPhone) I highly recommend giving Lumafusion a try. It’s only £20 and it’s what I’ve edited all my videos on. I personally find it easier editing to music so I pick the track first then do the cuts on the breaks. You will be surprised how quickly the random clips start to form an interesting video. I’m still a total novice but it’s quick to pick up and highly rewarding
