Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

After revisiting that needle shot of mine, I decided to tweak my sig a bit. I changed the direction of the light to look more correct, rotated the text and the 'tail' to a more vertical angle and even 'threaded' the end of the "L" through one of the loops.

The before is on the left and after, on the right.

I was wondering if any of you have experience in the Smoky Mountains. My wife and I are taking a long road trip starting tomorrow and I'm looking into locations to take some photos along the way. Since my wife is with me we will be limited to sightseeing near the roadways which is disappointing, but I want to make the most of it. Here is our itinerary

1.) One day in Atlanta. Doubt I'll do any shooting since it is more of a city day
2.) Chatanooga
3.) Knoxville
4.) One day in smoky mountain national park. We will be driving into the north entrance and doing roaring fork trail, grotto falls (hopefully) and newfound gap road. I'd like to catch the sunset at clingman's dome as well.
5.) stay the night in Cherokee
6.) One day in Asheville
7.) Driving on to Savannah. I'm meeting for a family reunion in Savannah but am looking for a good place for family photos (per my mom's requests). Any suggestions on a location?

And the resulting astro image...right out the back of the house we are staying in...Milky Way over the moonrise, with Jupiter in the jaws of the MW...planned this out the night before, and will probably try to shoot it again tonight, maybe do one with the GM and B18 to compare. I would also prefer less clouds...

With a desire to shoot a portrait using a very simple setup, I placed an LED light panel to the right of a stool and put a tracing paper difusing panel in front of it. Then I sat at the stool and made the exposure, firing with a wireless remote and a 2 second delay.

Missed the delivery of my 1635 GM loaner. Wont get to use it for this wedding. Bummer

Used my "free" upgrade from Sprint to get the Galaxy S10 5G. I was most interested in the camera in this thing of all things. Adds a UWA camera and a time of flight sensor for depth calculations to help mask the subject for the faux bokeh effects.

I'm bullish on computational photography and this is a pretty nice improvement in a year. The effect is a lot more convincing this time around and the facial detect AF system actually makes this usable in real world use with kids. I just need to figure out how to turn the skin smoothing off as its really aggressive.

That's excellent Travis. That will make life much easier for your astro work. The only issue I've had with the GM lens is in low contrast and low light scenes. It has some trouble locking in focus using AF. Otherwise, it's an excellent lens.

I think it will be good to go to one lens. The low light focusing seems to be more of an issue with the r2, and not the a9.
