Been researching a few Travel Tripods today also, the LS 284c & the LS-324C LS + LH-40PCL head

As you can see LS 284 only extends 50" without center column, holds only 22lbs
the LS 324 extends only 54" only 4 inches higher, not a big difference , but hold 33.1 lbs

Been compared to a RRS at 1/3 the price, same 10X

Sure they both have Center columns that allow each to extend further, but I am not a fan of center columns for stability, especially if you want a 100-400 + 1.4tc for Mtn peaks to get up close and personal when hiking.. Also you have to think about LE and vibrations with center columns. Stability is important if you are in moving streams

The head I would get would be the leophoto LH-40PCL head not the LH 40 for either of the two mentioned above, oh course other brands could be bought.

From all my research this far there will be compromises in all travel tripods, everyone has different needs, and some of the boxes will get checked for some, and some boxes will get checked for others.

I found one Pro Media gear TR344L in a much higher price point that will go tall and get small, it folds to about 23" and weighs 4.3 lbs

Max Height: 71", Min Height: 3.8" no center column
Folded Length: 23.8"
Leg Sections: 4, Weight: 4.3 lb without head ( not so favorable if traveling or hiking)

I'm still so tempted by this lens. I've always like 35mm more but after getting a 32mm for my APSC M5, I've become a bit more fond of the 50mm FL again.

It is an awesome lens. Really sharp from wide open and the transition from focus to oof is really smooth. People say it’s clinical or lacks character but it depends on your mind set. I always thought it produced nice images. Bit of loca at times but not too bad. I owned it twice but just couldn’t get used to the focal length

I made the promise to myself to not buy any more lenses this year so I'll probably sit on it for the rest of the year to decide.
Maybe there will be a third time for you down the road? Haha

Eddie, I have seen the name Lensskins but can't find a website to match that name.

CV40.

Like a true 'character' lens, there's some imperfections in the rendering....as in the really hard OOF bokeh balls, OOF CA, and nervous rendering of distant OOF details.

I love the 'classical' rendering of this lens for documentary photos as that's more artistic in nature...for more critical type photos I think technically better lenses with a cleaner, more modern rendering like the GM lenses are or the 35 1.4ZA are better suited.

Probably my search skills at B&H but I haven't seen anything for Sony. I would love not to use the Lenscoat version on the 200-600 though without the extending barrel it might not be bad.

Funny brought that up. Poof is scheming a multiday paddle trip. We'll see
what she comes up with. Wasn't that long ago we did a January circumnavigation
of Land Between the Lakes hammocking each night around the peninsula.

I think if she plans one it will be a simple paddle trip on Fontana.

Sheesh! I thought I was bad having 6 kayaks, 2 surf boards, a couple boogie boards, one SUP! I don't feel as bad now!

If you bierd in Florida you'll appreciate a white lens more. I've had a Nikon blackie get so hot it
was uncomfortable to hold.
