Just made the switch over to Sony. Canon has been very good to me over the past 8 years, but I honestly believe mirrorless is the future and Canon is just not there. (yet).

I tried Sony about 3 years ago, but never bought any native lens. Using adapted lenses with an A7rII, was frustrating to say the least. Now I have decided to use native lenses only, and so far I am loving it.

Here are a couple of photos from this weekend.

I was assigned by my inlaws to create for them a family reunion video.... so I did.

and with a massive turn of events, my FIL died a day later, wasnt in any of the videos due to condition. Sad and culture shock. There's a dead body in the house for the next three days. A day ago, I also learned about how chickens were processed in vietnam, and they do it at night to have freshest chicken during the day, no refrigeration needed. They do similar for the deceased, they inject with preservative as soon as they die, and viewing is immediate.

Very nice Charlie. I wanted it to be longer. :)

I am so sorry to learn of your loss.

Will you be posting more videos and captures from your time in Vietnam?

The rumor is interesting because of the comment Sigma made about the difficulty involved with developing dull frame lenses on FE mount due to the throat diameter... And yet they're releasing the widest aperture AF lens.

If this really is the case, then yes the lens will be massive.

Sigma also said not long ago that size savings were only possible on lenses up to 24mm by anything longer like 35mm would be the same size.

We should start a little competition to guess the weight haha. I would say at least 1.5kg!

Robert, I'm actually in the process of ordering the Leophoto, LS 284C. The kit I'm looking for is a combo that includes the legs as well as a RRS BH40 knockoff. I have an old Gitzo Explorer that I left in our place in Portugal but I need a ballhead for it and I hate having to travel back and forth with a ballhead in my suitcase so my thought was to order the LS 284C combo and take just the ballhead and leave the legs behind. Not sure if your tripod came with the ballhead or not if it did what was your assessment of it?

The LS legs look pretty good, they are a clear copy of the RRS legs as is the ballhead it ships with but the legs have received some pretty good reviews.

Jose remember I'm not a landscaper. Only time I really use a tripod is Milky Way and that is rare.
Also, the ballhead is an upgrade over my other lightweight rig. Now I've got a Induro gimbal and tripod that is way past this Leophoto....so it's all relative
to me. I think that gimbal weighs more than this tripod :)
I thinking legs in one place and traveling with the ball head is very clever.
So yes it came with ballhead....
Here I believe is the ballhead-

And here is the kit I received-
https://www.amazon.com …tle_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (external link)

Really anyone other than me in this thread would be better to evaluate this tripod :(
One thing Joe mentioned is to consider this ballhead to upgrade the system...not worth it to me weight
wise and I know I'm just not going to routinely put the 100-400mm on the one in the kit but if using way heavy
lenses-

Ever since Death Valley, I have not gotten out to shoot much in the way of landscapes...a couple work trips, but mostly its been architecture and people...all well and good..but I really needed to get out...I was hoping that Roan Mountain would be a trip that saw another abundant amount of images on the cards...and it just didn't happen that way. Most of what I shot I don't like, I either can't stand the comp, I made mistakes, or the elements I needed were missing...but this image...easily my favorite of the trip. I wandered off trail, I saw this patch of ferns back in the forest...wonderful moss covered trees, and fog...

Most everything else from the trip sucked, and I don't really want to edit them...there are a few that I will edit when I get time...but for now...I have paying clients to finish work for...

Looks very very familiar :)
Kinda like my yard at the cabin....where it was 74F today :)
Sadly now back in the city for the work week coming up.

Will you be posting more videos and captures from your time in Vietnam?

Hopefully, as soon as I'm done filming family stuff, funeral (way out of my element), I do plan on making a travel/lifestyle video, aspect which I'm enjoying, not necessarily touristy destinations.

For video length, a family reunion is sort of new territory and I'm not sure how to make a video with so many folks.... so I've decided to keep it short without any focus of a particular person or family member, a highlight video with our short time together, my general videos are short and I shortened the original a lot, a little awkward when drawn out I think. This was put together with a very tight deadline for folks that were leaving. I already have a few more vids of the family, but it's too specific to post public. Those are longer, but again, just too personal for anyone but family to appreciate.

My systems are Mic'd, but I'm struggling with commentary, which I hope to get better at.

Despite the hot weather, I've got a lot of video, and due to tropical weather, sunsets are pretty amazing even if they lack a nice subject.

Insta 360 one X. Wish the IQ were better zoomed in. Absolutely amazing the angles it can get. You can get impossible angles since you don't need to point it at anything. 10 foot selfie stick + wide angle can get you drone like shots, very convenient.

Plane shot is a tiny planet trick, my one and last tiny planet shot lol, never again.

I guess it depends on how you want to define it :p

It gets colder here for sure, like the past week we have had days that are a top of 16°C/60°F and nights can be as low as 0°C. There's no snow in Major cities but in the mountains here in the Eastern States.

Here in Sydney the weather is pretty stable though, never too cold and never too hot. Places like Brisbane are always really hot all year round (30°C or higher) but in Melbourne and Perth it can be real cold or really hot (as high as 42°C).
