We had a good hike. My baseweight (not counting food or water) was 16 pounds.
A doable weight for my area. We did spend the majority of the trip above 5500 feet
so mornings were cool.

Got back and did a boat ride at the cabin looking for whatever.
The Sony FE 100-400GM I'll take in a kayak. I doubt I would with the 200-600.
And as evidenced many times in this thread the 100400 has the macro advantage and
10 seconds later a quick wieldability for BIF

Nokishita reporter that Sony started editing the product page for the Sony 35mm f/1.8 a few hours ago. An announcement should be soon :D

Very nicely done Travis. Yeah I'm itching to go back. I finished this one yesterday. You wouldn't happen to have the behind the scenes photo of us from this spot do you? Btw, sucks about your client on your other photoshoot. Some people don't know better and they should.

Thanks. You wanna go back? I know Justin does...if you would be interested, let me know. Will keep you in the loop. I will look for the BTS shot, I have my backup drive here at work.

The client ended up coming around...they put a bunch of comparisons up to their short term rental groups and in his words..."I won the Internet"...only 1 person liked the ugly HDR from the ceiling more and he said she doesn't know anything and can't be listened to...I think it was a matter of they were just used to those images and had gotten too familiar with them...the OP shot from good spots, just didn't execute well, and they were just expecting 100% different...but it was a small house, so the angles were not hard to figure out...oh well...editing the 3rd set now.

I think I’m actually more curious about the sigma 35 f/1.2. I’m hoping it’s smaller than the Sony 35 1.4. Not sure if that’s possible but my CV 40 1.2 is smaller so surely they could squeeze the AF motors in and still keep it small?

The 35 1.8 was what I was waiting on but I wasnt wanting a budget lens. I’d have been happier if it was a G lens. Hopefully Sony surprise me though and it’s the same quality as the 85 1.8 and not like the 50 1.8. If that happens I’m all in

It would certainly be surprising if they did make one and it was a normalish size. Considering Canon have had their 50mm & 85mm f/1.2 primes but never 35mm, I figure it's no easy feat.

The speculation was that it will be more like the 50mm f/1.8 based on the product code but anything could happen. If it is like the 85mm f/1.8, I may consider getting it next year.

Lens updates.
I just updated firmware on sam/rok 45/1.8 and 24/2.8 via the hockey puck.
Super easy. Improvements? I don't know...nothing to really complain about before.
Supposed to address the infinity focus on the 45/1.8.
More I use sam/roks the more I like them :)

Tamron 17-28 shipping updated to: Expected availability: Jul 26, 2019

Redcat arrived. Part of a travel astro rig I've been building (campervan, Poof has a trip out west
next summer scheduled. Getting the parts/pieces is easy but
astro photography loves software and drivers for polar alignment/tracking. Gene this rig is so little
and lightweight even people with little yard space can apply. Here's the cat on the a7Riii. And a pic posted
a long time ago of what the A7Rii can do with little effort (in the city backyard with lots of light pollution--Bortle 6, and
only 10 subs for integration and there were jpg!)-

Forgot to mention, keep eye out for Sony RX100vii(7). It will be a taste of what the a9ii will be like (50fps) woot!

Yeah I was thinking a return trip would be fun. Still not sure. I would want to spend more time at the dunes for sure and hit some Alabama Hills.

Alabama Hills will be a must this time. I also really want to check out Eureka Dunes, its a bit of a haul but less people.
