Goat Lake 8240'. Sawtooth Range, Idaho. 8.1mi round trip. 1600' elevation gain....most of which is in two parts with the rest being quite chill through the forest.

I've got to give a shout out to my ancient LR 6.14. I should have had a wider lens but only took the 24/1.8 (35mm FF). This is 15 a shot portrait orientation pano with 7 across the top and 8 across the bottom. Maybe a little excessive but I don't think I could have got it with much less than 13 shots and didn't want to risk it. LR 6.14 on a standard iMac of about 2 years old took it's time but cranked the stitch out like a champ!

Nice job, "1600' elevation gain", what was elevation on top ? Did you have a panning rig and leveling base, or just on your ball head panning with your tripod level.?

Also I didn't know LR could process multi images top and bottom row pano's all at once, I thought it was just capable of normal single row pano's . Saying that, I would of stitched bottom row, then stitched top row , and then stitch results of bottom and top row.

Nicely done. Too bad you didn't shoot this in HDR, that would have only taken 45 exposures.

I"m always amazed at how well Photoshop/Lightroom does on stitching/stacking multiple images into one.

LR capable of stitching 45 images or is that a job that require PS

It's been wild kingdom in my backyard this week. Skunks, Foxes, Possums, and a family of Racoons. Luckily after a tesnse standoff here, the skunk moved on without any indident of odorous consequences The TC was on the camera or I probably could have got down to 5.6 and got cleaner shots, but oh well.

- The lake sits at 8240'
- All 15 shots handheld. Nothing else.
- Yeah....I found out a while back that LR will stitch top, bottom and side by side all at once.
- I first stitched all the top row then bottom row. I thine tried to stitch the top and bottom pano. LR didn't like that method. Then I just selected them all. crossed my fingers and it went!

I also took 4 kids ages 10-14 up there. Here are my two with their first look of the lake after the climb through the boulder fields. What an amazing place!

Fun fact....The pointed peak in the distance is Thomson peak....highest in the Sawtooth range toping out at 10,751'. That's a great overnighter. Camp at a lake around 9000' and summit the next day.

Ed, great shot of the raccoons. But here, when I see them in the backyard alarms go off. To us they are just bad news. I don't hate 'em like I hate
squirrels but man they've done damage here in town and up at the cabin.
