Aug 07, 2017 10:12 | #3152 Anyone consider the Canon EF 16-35 III on an a7RII vs the FE version? Too big? I had the previous version of the Canon 16-35 and while the corner sharpness were a let down, it had the best sunstars out of a wide angle zoom. - Alfredo -

I looked into it, but dismissed the idea for a few reasons Sony A7siii/A7iv/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD

I don't have an FE version to compare, but I found the EF 16-35 f/2.8L III too big on the A7RII. For me, it is uncomfortable for anything other than tripod based shots with the A7RII. It's a super sharp lens, but heavy. With the MB-IV adaptor it weighs 1022 grams.

It's quite big, even bigger than the unadapted GM. 780g bare, 900g with adapter, plus adapter size = sizeable lens. If it was simply heavier, I could eat the weight and deal with it, but longer as well, will make it seem a lot heavier in practice. 3. Coma performance wasnt that good from what I recall. I could be wrong on this, I just saw a sample on the early thread and that was my conclusion. EDIT: my lens/adaptor weight was taken from my wife's very accurate kitchen scale. Astro shots I've taken don't have the Coma issue. Thanks guys for the inputs. I'll see how the GM version performs then. - Alfredo -

Timphoto Creme de la Curmudgeon More info | I love the 16-35 zooms, but I'm doubtful I get the GM when I finish the migration to all Sony gear. The way things are working well for me with the FE 12-24 and the Loxia 21 & 35, I don't see a 16-35 GM in the future...at this point in time.

Aug 07, 2017 12:45 | #3161 A neighboring town has a family of peacocks that occupy a few lots in the downtown area. Well, they occupy more than that as they tend to roam around. The neighborhood these birds are in is downright terrible, but worth it to me to grab some stills of these magnificent creatures. peacock5 IMAGE LINK: https://www.flickr.com …332/in/dateposted-public/ peacock8 IMAGE LINK: https://www.flickr.com …986/in/dateposted-public/ peacock1 Sony A7RIII, Tamron 28mm 2.8 Di III OSD M1:2, Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA, Canon 200mm 2.8L ii, Sigma MC-11, HVL-F43M

This is one of their quick release plates that acts as a slide to help find the non-parallax (nodal) point. It's actually pretty inexpensive and a better value than RRS. They use cork to help dampen vibrations. - Alfredo -

We were hunting bugs near Carvers Gap yesterday and went on up to the bluff for a sunset that didn't happen. Still nice being up there, it was 58F and downtown when we left 89F. This shot 5-6 min's after sunset and 2 miles (crow fly) from the cabin- ![]() Interesting to see the same comp with wildly different light. Website
