I think it's toast. The sensor isn't blocked and I tried cleaning it. still nothing. Pretty lame.....This now makes for an even less fun camera to use. In reality, the only think I have ever liked about this camera is the size and images. Everything else totally sucks. It's the most awkward I've ever used.. I really hope Sony announces something this month that interests me in a big way.

Later this month there's a aps-c announcement isn't there?

Supposed to be.

I just got off the phone with the Sony repair people. Quoted $380 for the average repair and maybe more. No freakin' way am I going put money into this POS. Pretty lame really....less than three years old with not a lot of miles on it. We'll see what Sony comes up with later this month but who knows....I might have to start thinking outside the box when looking at replacements.

I would try KEH or local repairs.

Not the most photogenic but here's a shot of a Skipper butterfly at 560mm using the 1.4x on my FE 100-400mm lens.

Must be true. I've just read the same, somewhere else, from someone else :)

Yeah got an email from the actual courier so sounds like it’s already been dispatched from the shop

Thank you for saying that but it isn't nice to tell fibs. Your images best mine in just about every category with maybe the exception of spending a lot of time fiddling with editing them.

Thanks....I was thinking local as well.

I tried KEH before, the $100 repair seemed like a great deal, but I think they rejected my particular item. It was fairly quick and I would try them again if I wasnt under warranty. I have a local guy that can do any sort of repair, and it seems he just enjoys that type of thing, not much money involved. He's on top of things, very knowledgeable and a nice resource for camera repairs. He goes beyond a repair and explains things in high detail, he really likes cameras. Hope the fix is trivial, and good luck.

This Skipper was shot using the FE 100-400 only. The screenshot beneath shows why I need to shoot high resolution cameras. The crop is still only 54% of the total image size.

Thanks....I was thinking local as well.

I had a lens worked on here in town at the local chain. They f’d it up even more and I ended up selling it to KEH for less than $50.

I was all about "hey I dont need this lens" mostly because I love that the 100-400 does such great macro...... Then you post THAT!!!!!

Eriet, unless you are always wearing a TC on the 100400 keep it. The 200600 is for those of us who constantly need the reach and then some.

Gene second skipper is even better.
Needing more pixels....we're in the same boat.
SOOC and the crop.
Even at 840mm only 972 pixels on the wide side.

For the a9 just not enough pixels for good resolving....at this distance.
