I haven’t done the math, but I’d expect the FE 200-600mm to be Sony’s least expensive lens on a per-ounce/gram basis. Incredible value imo. :)

Yes sir, spot on in my estimation=the bestbangbuck for wildlife/BIF (see Arbitrage and Joshua's BIF work at FM) in the Sony world IF IF IF you can suffer the weight.
I handed Poof the a6400+100400G earlier today and had forgotten how light that set of gears is....it is the lightest/most wieldable you can go (or with the a6500) IF IF IF you can suffer the ergo's
of the a6xxx series (which frankly suck). Poof quickly nabbed a bee on a flower and she was humbled by the sharpness from the 100400 and the MFD for psuedo macro.
I don't think 100400 replaces 200600...different tools..but what is the photographer's preferrence/most targeted subjects?

So I say all that when there is a Nikon 500PF+D500 3 feet away. The D500 can give the a9 run for monies and the 500PF is super super sharp...as sharp as the 100400; the combo is very wieldable BUT BUT BUT
it's a DSLR!

David the reason Nikon is not going on the Alaska trip is simply because I can charge every Sony going (a7Rii/A7Riii/a6400/a9/a5100/rx100v/rx100vi) from a big battery brick. USB charging and convenience win this time.

So the 35/1.8 arrived. Size and weight is great. One weird thing though is that when I hold it and then tilt it forward I can feel the internals moving with gravity. I can then tilt it the other way and feel it moving back again. Not sure if thats normal or defective? Never had that with a lens before. Seems to be functioning correctly though

Just clocked the time! Noticed it was past 19:00 hours so thought I'd come onto POTN & have a look for your review mate :)

I can't say I've ever noticed that with a lens before. But, it's not really something that I'm likely to check/listen for/notice......

Hopefully someone else with a early order can double check with you.

Yeah it’s a bit odd. I didn’t check for it but instantly felt it happening. The lens seems to work correctly though. I’ll get some better use of it tomorrow

I believe this is a Yellowjacket. There were a couple of them flying around my flowers which made it difficult to focus with all the foliage in the way. I got lucky on one shot.

These Skippers are much easier to photograph, even though they hop from flower to flower constantly.
