Thanks Eddie!
I really appreciate the comment because although I thought this was going to have potential when I took the shot, but wasn't initially happy at all with it in LR. It had a ghastly green cast and was way over-bright from reality. So, I went from memory and adjusted the colors and darkened it way way down. The darkening had a negative side effect of over-intensifying the colors so I kept having to desaturate the image and it still looks a bit too colorful to me, but I also just liked it this way, so there it stands. ;)

I don't know about LightRoom but in Photoshop, the oversaturation effect when darkening an image using a curves adjustment layer can be overcome by changing its blend mode to "luminosity". I'm sure there is something that would be the equivalent in LR?

This was mainly edited in PS and I know that the luminosity blend mode only affects luminance apart from color about that in PS, however using curves to darken in PS was causing massive banding artifacts, so I then chose the alternative of darkening via the ACR filter. And that succeeded by not causing banding.

Mitigating the saturation is not hard or a problem, but I just mentioned because it was just another editing choice I had to make.

Ugh, now I guess I need to splain why I didn’t just darken in LR to start with before opening in PS...well, the image was initially blended in Photomatix from five exposures, so I was working with a TIF export from Photomatix.

My wife and I were just fantasizing yesterday about moving to one of the Rocky Mountain states for a while before we ultimately move to Mexico. Would love to spend a year in Montana or Wyoming or Utah or Idaho. Cory, can we move in with you please? :p
