Keep me in mind for the ZA...I am probably going to offload the 50Art and go to the 35 instead.

Now you’re talking. You own the brilliant 85GM and you need a proper wider companion lens for it. 35mm with 85mm is a much better pair than 50/85 imo.

Other than LOCA and factory QC issues I like the FE 35mm 1.4 ZA. Buying from a discriminating owner like Carlo would critical, lest you end up with a dud. Otherwise buy new from BH and utilize that return policy to protect you from a bad copy.

Every once in a while we capture an image that will become the way we remember someone. The thing about photography that has the most impact is the power to freeze time, and allow us to go back to that moment and let those good memories be the dominant force...RIP my friend...it was just a snapshot at the time but to him it was his favorite image of himself...and now...its no snapshot.

That was never a mere snapshot. Great portrait. :)

Photography is my life-note taker. I gain better recall of my life simply by viewing my old photos. Photography makes life richer.

That is the realization I have come to...that 50 and 85 are too close, 50 being too close for some things and not close enough for others...so 35/85 makes more sense...and both are native and I love the rendering of the 35, not so much the Sony 50 ZA.

It was a snapshot at first...I was testing a Sigma 20Art on the A7r....and we were just messing around....but it has so much more meaning now.

Lovely spot south of San Antonio. The city has done a wonderful job expanding their trails and have included some whimsical art pieces like this around town.

Great shot Travis.

Yes lately my priorities in photography have shifted more towards documenting, and less about creating something for the purposes of aesthetics or whatever. At the end of the day, those moments frozen in time have more impact on our own lives and the lives of others than the other stuff we tend to shoot. People die, kids grow up, we move away, get a new job etc etc... Life just changes all the time and it really is a unique talent to be able to preserve those memories in ways others necessarily can't.

that last bit is the really important part...we have a gift to see and capture things in a very unique way...gotta start using it more for those purposes. Just this week I have had two people pass on...I have images of both of them because of the awareness of this fact...

The local Monarch migration has started here in Toronto, hard to believe these little guys overwinter all the way down in Mexico.

As I was about to leave this location after an early morning of shooting, I noticed the light in this scene. I quickly setup my composition and captured this.

Guadalupe River, Texas hill country

Beautiful. Not the kind of scenery I used to associate with Texas until I began learning about my roots in Texas. I suppose I watched too many westerns on TV growing up in the '50s.
