Beautiful. Not the kind of scenery I used to associate with Texas until I began learning about my roots in Texas. I suppose I watched too many westerns on TV growing up in the '50s.

Thanks Gene. Texas is pretty diverse. It should be since it is so large.

As I was about to leave this location after an early morning of shooting, I noticed the light in this scene. I quickly setup my composition and captured this.

Beautiful as usual. :) The bark pattern on that tree is wonderful...looks like something out of a Peter Jackson LOTR or The Hobbit movie. Do you know what type of tree it is?

Did I miss this in this thread somewhere? Sony a9II, higher mpx (external link) I've never really followed this site but seems to make some right calls this year.

Thanks David! I believe that's a cypress tree. They are common around the rivers here and grow quite large.

Thanks Lee! Yeah mother nature did the dodging and burning for me. I didn't have to do much to this image aside from some color grading. I think this one may look good printed on a textured paper.

Back to the Great Smoky mountains images with this shot at sunrise. The clouds were quite dramatic the morning I visited this overlook. I have quite a backlog of images to work through so it will take some time.

Really like the color you have in this one.

Thank you. I was happy with how it turned out. Sometimes these sunrise/sunset colors can be a bit tricky.

David, any thoughts on Cv40 vs Sigma 35 f1. 2?

CV 40 is a terrific lens and totally wins on weight/performance ratio, but I bought the Sigma 35mm 1.2 for its raw wide-open performance at f/1.2 and AF. Haven’t posted it yet, but the CV 40’s going to be sold.
