Portability for me is the primary consideration, especially with Air Travel, I've been looking at the Sea Eagle Razorlite and Advanced Elements inflateables, the reviews are pretty good so I will likely go with one of those two options.

We added two Sea Eagle's this year, 393rl is the model. So far I give a big thumbs up. I've got decades
paddling hardshells and was dubious at best with an inflatable but Sea Eagle surprised me in a big way.
We didn't want to climb up and down on our camper to store them so the 393rl fit the bill for storage but
easy access. Amazing that we can get two 12 foot kayaks inside-

Jackson Hole WY..... have a National Parks friend that is getting a cabin and has some vip access.....town is going to be packed!!!!

That is insane. How incredibly nice that is!!

I'd definitely want to be out west for the eclipse...people are spending big bucks to come to the southeast and wouldn't it be a terrible shame if, after spending a fortune that the skies turned out completely overcast?

Eriet30, I'm very jealous of your opportunity to catch the eclipse. Best of luck!

Anyone considering the new Laowa 15mm f2.0 lens?

That's a huge endorsement Robert...going to give this a lot more consideration due to your experience. Just getting the racks for my car was going to be very expensive.

If you do come west to view the eclipse, we'll only see a partial eclipse in Southern California.

Hi Robert

That is the model that I seriously looking at, my only concern is around stability, what is your assessment of that? I would be primarily using it on slow flowing rivers with the occassional sections of white water.

gotcha. I've seen/captured the eclipse, and it was heavily covered, but dont think it was totality.

Yep, me too. I'd need a 1000mm lens plus 10x tc haha

I have massive fear of snakes. No idea why, never seen one apart from at the zoo / parks etc. Luckily in New Zealand we don't have any, but when I visit friends in Australia, thats a different story. Place is crawling with them. (literally)

I freaked out when shooting some milky way shots down in Wollongong last year. The walk to the spot through some bush was horrible, especially when my mates tells me they are all around the area lol
Not sure if he was just winding me up......

Eriet NM is out :(
We had to make a decision time off wise, Yellowstone and Glacier are in a couple of weeks.
Done deal on that....for the winter trip Poof had to decide whether a long trip back out west
or a shorter trip to Florida and the Canadian maritimes in May.
She chose the Canada trip.
So my hopes of Basque del Apache will have to wait yet another year....but the good is that
maybe I can image Gannets in Newfoundland.

Surprisingly stable and amazingly quick. Inflatables have come a real long way.
For photography stability solely I would look at something like the Eddyline Caribbean. I can
swing my legs over to the side, put my buttocks on the side with legs fully in the water and it
will not even think about tipping.
The Sea Eagles we have are not quite that stable but in 'confused' water (lake traffic) I was fine...but
I've done a lot of paddling and BCU 3 and 4 star certification with training in Lake Michigan so what is
stable to me might not be to others but the 393rl is fine, more than fine for lakes. Now white water I'd
have to know how many rocks you're going to eat at speed.
The beauty of the 393rl compared to the Caribbeans for say getting 2-3 miles to your photosite is speed.
The 393rl really is a fast boat (and I have 4 racing hardshells).
