Cropability of the Riv.
I was sitting in the bushes kinda hidden from a perch I'd baited with peanuts for the Blue-Js
and this guy flew over.
First SOOC, second the crop.
I ran the crop through Topaz AI Clear, my first time using that software to an Riv file.

a9 would have tracked for sure, but the crop would have been mush.
I'd seen this GBH an hour earlier at the neighborhood pound when getting my steps in and thought 'should I get the camera and head back' or.....

Shot at 600mm

Very nice shot, love the detail. Of all the legacy glass that i've owned over the years and sold this is one lens that will likely remain with me for a very long time. I was fortunate to fine a copy without the rear element hazing that this lens is afflicted with.

Travis, the eye-cups came today. Installed on Riv and a9. Like them.
I think they'd work on any of the current Sony's and be of benefit.
Thanks again for the link.

That's an amazing amount of detail in those files Robert. I'm not familiar with the Topaz Cleasr application, do you know how does it differs from Denoise AI? I tried Denoise AI and it does an amazing job of denoting as well as sharpening but processing speed is horrendous on my Mac so I stepped away from it.

Jose I admit to having a gaming PC. It takes around 40 seconds including duplicating the layer, loading Topaz Studio, selecting AI Clear, then 'applying. Hey, just did one and it actually took longer to duplicate the layer and load Studio than to run the AI.

Really my first session working 61mpx verses shooting in crop mode.
One big difference, and obvious I suppose, is that when you pop into cropper on the Riv
you then have 200+ raw buffer. Nice that is a custom button (trash can for me) press away.
If BIF'ing I'm at 8 fps (is that mid?) and the EVF keeps up.....200/8 many seconds to get the shot eh.

Only complaint is that to go back to FF mode you have to wait until the files have written to card. But, writing
the 26mpx files is fast, way faster than the 61mpx.

Another from the day showing exactly how to get Blue-J's

Gorgeous subject, Joe. I wish the crop wasn't as tight. I'm sure you can work your magic and extend the background at least on the left. That dark sky would be perfect :)

I'll have to try peanuts to lure in a couple of scrub jays that hang around my neighbor's place.

Raw peanuts, not roasted I presume?

Yeah, I think the issue I have is the integrated GPU on the Mac Mini is pretty limited with GPU intensive apps, would be interesting to see how they would perform with an eGPU.

On a completely separate topic, do you own a Sea Eagle Razolite kayak? I know there was someone on the board that did but wasn't sure it was you. I'm back in the trying to decide on an inflatable that can be packed and suitable for airline travel and I'm having a heck of a time deciding. The Razolite is on my list nut there are a couple of Advanced Elements kayaks that I'm also interested in. Wouldn't mind your thoughts on the Sea Eagle if you own one.

The ones that work here are roasted/salted.
I did use sunflower seeds on Florida Scrub J's.

For an inflatable I give them 10+ stars.
Our version's foot rest is now antiquated and improved but it is fine.
Considering you can take them anywhere they are remarkable.
The fact that they have the rigidity of a hardshell (and you may remember I collect sea kayaks and have them from Britain, New South Wales Aus, etc.) and have logged several thousand miles paddling, I am just floored with them.
BUT don't go scrapping oyster shells with them ;)
