Got my Batis 18mm and 25mm posted up for sale. I am loving my new Loxia 21mm so much that I can't help but think about other ones. Particularly the 35mm. I didn't love the Loxia 35mm wide open, BUT I loved shooting with it and stopped down it's great. And the size is fantastic.

Alfredo, have you ever thought about just getting all the Loxias (you're missing the 35 and 50)? How about the 85mm? You still happy you have it?

Oh wow! Selling the Batis 18 huh. I've been strongly considering the Lox 35 David. For what i shoot I think it would be perfect. Yes still loving my Loxia 85. It's the sharpest prime I've shot with and it has that special Zeiss sauce. I've been happy with my FE 55 that I haven't considered the Loxia 50. I need at least one lens with AF for capturing candida of my son. However, the Loxia 50 looks amazing too.

David I'd forgotten the 400/5.6 until one day I wanted to shoot the EOS M5 and there the 400/5.6 was.
So thought hmmmm. Let's give it a go.
Don't know if there is any logic keeping it, sacrificial maybe if the trail is rough and I might go down?
It's only 145gm lighter than the FE100-400.

OK one more thought. We like the EOS M5 for size/weight/sensor.....pales compared to the Sony mirrorless system
but we like them anyway and the 400/5.6 is concise on the M5, even moreso than the a6500 (where it works well too).

Robert, do you need a tripod plate for the Canon 400mm f5.6 lens? I have one for sale. Great lens btw. I used to own it.

My Batis lenses are just posted for sale at this point...no bites yet. :) Thanks for your thoughts on the Loxia line. And I like that thought about keeping the 55mm.

I think my 28 is failing :-(

it occasionally does this weird pulsing , more of an issue with video..
but even in stills when on afc it does this pulsing sometimes .. like a rapid constant focusing , even in ideal conditions

in afs its works like normal

i'm hoping maybe its just a setting I accidently turned on or off .. any advice would be appreciated

Vinz, wait until you get the Oly M1ii and and do a handheld 5 second shot. Throw away the tripod ;)

that's one of the best feature there is but only works with their pro lens with an IS, right? i mean't the body has built-in but the super steady shot is with dual IS that works only on lenses with IS. great for quick videos when you don't have your gimbal.

Sounds like you're using AF-C past F8

Not sure if that lens does wide open focusing or not, you can turn off live effect, see if that helps

ok thanks .. yes that's a possibility

i'm often at high f stops so everythings in focus ,,especially in cases when I cant man the camera (on tripod) or when I give it to my wife and she's not going to manual focus
or when the sun is out in high force ...

will be testing this out and see

I think you're right Vinz but I'm at work and can't ask Poof, she'd know. Same with the ultra high resolution shots, probably
needs Oly lenses.
On my Oly M1ii I only use the PL 100-400mm, limits me :) But I use that body and lens for wildlife so I'm OK with it. I've never
even shot with her 300/4....wouldn't want to want it :)

I see this with my FE 85, my FE 70-200 and a few other lenses. I do not think it's the lens that's the issue. It's the limit of the AF-C system relative to the aperture. This limit seems to be around f8. Are you shooting at a smaller aperture than f8? For me, if I set my aperture to f8 or larger, the problem goes away immediately.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

What aperture? The PDAF doesnt work after f/8 on sony bodies and you get pulsing

that's one of the best feature there is but only works with their pro lens with an IS, right? i mean't the body has built-in but the super steady shot is with dual IS that works only on lenses with IS. great for quick videos when you don't have your gimbal.

If you use it with an Olympus lens with IS, it works under Sync IS with an additional stop. Right now here's only two lenses that have IS, the 12-100 and the 300 f/4. Normally it gives around 5.5 stops, with Sync IS you get 6.5 stops. The E-M1 II is a fantastic camera and I only got rid of mine because video AF was terrible (it has 121 PDAF points but from what I was told in video it goes back to using CDAF) and I'm frequently at high ISO and my subjects I can't slow down SS to keep ISO low. No amount of IBIS will help with fast moving kids. My limit for m4/3 is around ISO1600, 3200 in a pinch. Even with a 1.2 lens, I would be at ISO2000 more than I wanted. Some of the lens are super sharp and using a 12-40 f/2.8 was very convenient despite the fact that it had a equivalent DoF of a 5.6 lens and harder to get out of focus areas with it.
