Vinz you know I know nothing on portraiture....birds and bugs man!
But for birds and mFT the whole key is to fill the frame. Yes you can crop
a little with mFT, it does have pixel density, but the closer we can get to the wildlife
the better....often cannot tell the difference between 1DXii and 500ISii, lived it firsthand
shooting with Poof and her M1ii + Oly 300/4 Pro.

As long as Poof has some light to shoot in, those Oly images really do compete with the best gear out there from what I have seen on her Flickr page over the past several, several months.

That E-M1 II with 100-400mm looks like a pretty great combo...just looking at Flickr samples. Wish I could afford it. Would be pretty killer for my kayak shooting.

that's what i like about, you're not afraid to take it anywhere. even in water.

TMaG82, good info. thank you. that's a bit of nega for me since i also love video. might be a perfect size for my upcoming Zhiyun-Tech Crane gimbal.

Also i wish it has 120p for a more better slowmo.

Might be ordering my kayak this weekend...a nice surprise photo sale yesterday to a contract furniture dealer making it possible. Once I get out on the water I can see what lens direction I want to go or stay in:

1. If I see loads of interesting irresistible wildlife subjects I might sell my Batis 135mm for the FE 100-400mm GM + 1.4x.

2. Hopefully, though, I will prefer to paddle and find good landscape photography vantage points. What I already have works great for that. It will be interesting to see what unfolds (besides my inflatable kayak :p).

This was an interesting exercise for me to shoot a white bottle on a white background. Actually, only half the bottle was white, the other half was blue.

Beautiful. There isn't a shadow again, but the reflection is more than adequate (and even more pleasing to the eye) for grounding the subjects. Straighten the verticals and it will be a perfect image.

And, just a thought, what if the space between them was exactly the width of the bottles (positive and negative space)?

Really cool imagery Gene...I love your product photography. :)

Very nicely done, Gene!

So, for the past several years, we've had a hooded oriole couple (I think, MM would know probably) every spring/summer in our backyard.
This year, they seem to have managed to hatch a new generation. As of yesterday, I counted a total of 5 (I think juveniles), 2 males and 3 females.
They seem to like the hummingbird feeder.

I got a couple of nice shots of 3 of them feeding together yesterday, but the lighting was terrible. Might post those later.

Got a few decent ones this morning. Only one visitor at a time though.

The one shot from yesterday that I was managed to salvage. Bad light. But it was nice seeing all 3 of them in a single shot.

Sold the Canon cameras and converted to a A7rII. So far it been amazing! A7RII with Metabones V adapter with a Canon 50L. Focus is pretty damn fast!

Went out.
Sat staring upwards for a while, hoping for a break in the cloud cover over London.
Realised I was an old fool, and there wasn't going to be one.
Came in.

Hope you had better luck.
