That’s where I’m at. C1 might be a better output but LR is so user friendly

You just need to customize the interface. I have it set-up to where the controls/adjustments very similar to light room now

but what about skin correction?

thats what keeps me with LR / PS ..

I have the previous version C1 , and its fine for everything else , but as far as I can see nothing similar to what I can do with PS (frequency separation etc)

so I dont use my copy of c1 because of that and I 'd rather not use two editors for separate types of photos

I view C1 as a replacement for LR, but not PS. So run through C1 to do your standard processing, but jump into PS if I need to do deeper processing like frequency separation.

As a baseline, I've found that C1 produces images with more punch in terms of color and contrast.

Yeah, that was the smallest BG I found so far. Here's what I've used in the past taping a piece of black cloth to the block wall behind a planter on my patio. I was shooting from inside with the sliding glass door open. I also used two flashes, one on either side of the planter. Not a good idea to have the door open if it's over 100° here though. ;-)a

Really not meaning to do that, Robert. I keep it handy in my office. I did pick up the a9/200-600 a few minutes ago though.

I'm joshing with you Bill and happy you got a stellar copy.

I might be the only one, but to me LR is slow. I like Bridge/ACR. For the Riv files the only time I noticed a slowdown
was once when experimenting with uncompressed raw and there was a momentary hesitation after clicking an image
and it loading into photoshop.

Dang Im getting cold just looking at this and its 84 outside

We'll hit low teens here. Singles up at the cabin. Came damn early this year...and the transition from summer-fall-winter
was fastest ever. I remember 'feeling' maybe 5 fall days.

Some of you know I ordered/received then promptly sent back the E 70-350G; my copy just
was not sharp at 350mm.

So a couple days ago I took the FE 70-300G out to refresh my memory and re-affirm that at least
it is a good copy.
These images are not Flickr'able but they do make me relax on my 70-300 copy.

Hopefully Adobe can finally change LR to be more like C1 in terms of the quality of processing, but who knows.

You just need to customize the interface. I have it set-up to where the controls/adjustments very similar to light room now

For me it’s more the file handling. LR embeds the XMP data into the DNG file so when I open in PS, it will already read that. I know CP1 will only work with DNG files that come straight out of the camera as that format or have the original RAW file embedded in them which will increase file sizes.

For the image I posted, I found it was easiest to import the ARW file then export as DNG, but I had to pay close attention to the color profiles as that created issues and then I would when to keep the DNG And ARW file.

I did find that I got a nicer looking image in CP1 with way less work compared to LR.

On my first pass from yesterdays outing to the NWR, I have already deleted over 400 shots, and that's before I even zoom in and look close at anything

C1 is a lightroom replacement, if you're into portraits, portrait pro is great for that sorta thing, and really optimized for it. I'm sure you can replicate in photoshop, but it's really tough to do what portrait pro does quickly and effectively.

C1 has some major cons for sure, and not the fullest fullest featureset compared to a LR/PS combo. Same holds true for Premiere and Final Cut, simply use what you've got.

I dont really know what the XMP data is, but opening a file in photoshop with "Edit with" retains all the changes I made in C1, so what am I missing?
