First outing with the Edelkrone was...meh. Going out again in the morning and setting up differently and see if it is better...

We had a guest in your backyard for a while this afternoon. Looks like a youngster, so I hope mom is nearby. (A7R4 and 24-105 was handy. Big Crop, but not a problem for the beast)

hey all, happy new year!

I've been following your stuff for a while now and, with this new acquisition (not shot with a Sony, which I hope you'll excuse) I very much will be joining you in contributing to this thread as well in 2020!

('cause gear matters so much less when it's not the kind that will make you miss your shots, right?)

Seen on world news this evening how bad the fires are in NSW, folks escaping to the waters edge, just in case they had to go in to avoid being burned. The Government is reaching out around the world for more help. There have been many firefighters there from the US since the beginning of Dec. Is it the same kind of dry heat that they experience in Cali that causes the fires. Be safe !!

Yeah we are prone to bushfires but not usually to this extreme. The weather hasn’t been helping either as we had the hottest NYE since 1985 so hopefully we can get some heavy rain soon to help the firefighters out a bit. Thanks I will!

We also had a bad fire yr here in California, both in north and south. Maybe it is the changing patterns due to global warming.

Very likely, all these natural disasters keep happening more and more. Although they originally believed these were caused by arson.

H A P P Y ... N E W ... Y E A R !!!

It’s 2020 here in Georgia and my New Year Gear resolutions are:

1. Buy an a7R IV
2. Buy a FE 200-600mm (plus TCs maybe?)
3. Buy a new editing PC
4. Buy new drives for my Drobo
5. Buy new glasses so I can see what I’m shooting
5. Buy two new Xbox Series X consoles :p

That’s my wishful hopeful - but totally serious - thinking, so don’t hold me to it...it’s just fun to blab about new hopes with a new year. Most that hinges on some other major financial decisions as well as on how well I do in the market this year. 2020 will be just my second year of investing on my own (not paying a company to make investment decisions for me). 2019 was both a great year and a terrible year. Learned a lot, lost a lot, earned a lot. Now I’m far more confident and understanding of who I am as an investor.

You could just go all out with the PC and don’t need the Xbox console then as all exclusives are release on PC anyways :p

I used to always get PS and Xbox consoles by this gen I just went PC/PS4 although kinda do miss the Xbox.

My wife and I both play on two identical gaming setups (often simultaneously and frequently cooperatively), so we need two. The conventional wisdom for the pricing for the next gen Xbox and PS5 is around $500 USD. A similarly spec’d PC would be unattainable below $1000. There are a few other compelling reasons, but I’ll submit price as a sufficient one for now and reference other reasons later if necessary.

Also, I love PS as well...we will eventually get at least one PS5, if not two, because I absolutely MUST play anything that Naughty Dog puts out. Can’t wait for Last of Us II! :)

During the weekend I started watching a training tutorial from Alex Noriega that I picked up during Black Friday. Good training so far. One thing I found interesting is he prefers using Adobe Landscape profile versus adobe standard. I tried it in a few images and like the results.

Interesting could you elaborate?

Yeah very true when it comes to price. Not sure about stores over there but here the Aus version of GameStop does trade in offers so rather than pay $550 for my Switch at launch, I traded in my Wii plus 5 games and only paid like $220. With GPU prices at their current state, even a 1070 Super would cost more than the console here.

Yeah Sony have great exclusives, one upcoming one is called Ghost of Tsushima that you should check out.

Lol I have a feeling my 2020 gas willl.be video game related. Cheaper than camera gear! Nintendo switch was a nice distraction in 2017 and 2018.

I'll probably grab both of the new consoles at launch but am favoring the playstation because of the first party titles. But I'm most stoked about the final fantasy vii remake dropping in march!

Happy new year to my friends here! Looking forward to another year of admiring ya'lls photos, learning a thing or two, and being pressured into buying more gear :-)
