I can't speak to the original A7, but on the A7R2, R3, and R4, my go to adapter has been the Sigma MC-11. I also have a Metabones IV, but the MC-11 is 1/2 the cost of the MB and in most of my use, the MC-11 works just fine.

Klystron wrote in post #18985564 (external link)
I would say a Sigma MC-11. But if your using manual focus or dont care about quick AF then get a cheap Ebay version. I use one with a couple of manual focus lenses.

Bill in Texas wrote in post #18985573 (external link)
I used the MC-11 on the original a7 with a Tamron 150-600 and it did ok.

Thanks guys :)

Sony 70-200/4 is about £850 upwards used.

Canon 70-200/4 is about £330 + adapter
MC-11 is about £185 new so that's up to £520

^^^ Both about the same weight with adapter, Canon will be bigger (because of adapter only) Canon is 67mm filters (72mm Sony) :)

I think the Tamron is priced around £1000 supposedly...... But then it's FE mount, f/2.8, hopefully 67mm filters.... Looks like I could be letting the 85mm go.....

Got to do a little testing with the 105. These are pretty quick edits, but I am thrilled with what this lens is producing so far. All of these were at 1.4

Lee you're thinking through it with the + and - of each direction.
Wonder what the E70-350G is in your neck of the woods.
Of course you'd have to NOT be a FF snob!
I couldn't stomach the US prices of it so went the Canadian route and saved over $250.
Given your choices though I'd lean to the FE 70-200 for the AF speed over the adapted lenses, yet
the MC-11 is phenomenal. I haven't see my Metabones in so long...covered in dust.

MFD 6.7 inches. Hmmmm.
Isn't this the type lens set it to something and everything is in focus?

So dark and rainy here...but it could be snow and ice....thinking about it I'd prefer the snow and ice since
it is my off week.

Well speaking of dark. Me in the blind and using a rifle rest for the shutter speed. Using the E70-350G on this
created boreal forest.

A quick search can only find new for about the same price as the FE70-200/4 - That lens would require a new full set of CPL & ND filters though too. I have everything in 67mm at present.

It's just ideas & thoughts at the moment but appreciate all opinions :)
