had a tfp session set for today.. was really hoping to put the sigma 35 1.2 to use...

1 1/2 hour before start time I get the message that would be running late due to baby sitter.

I have the studio from 11-2. I text back and ask "so about what time should I expect you?" .. so I figure ok.. worse case she'll be there by 12.

when I get there she responds back to my text.. she can my make it by "130, maybe"

:cry::-(

I know things come up.. but tfp's for me have had such a horrible hit rate that I've almost stopped offering/accepting them.

i'll say almost half of them end up cancelling.. at the very literal, last minute

almost $200 bucks for a studio I never used..vmad

I usually do first timers outdoors for this very reason.. but being a bit cold and that she seemed mature / serious .. I took a chance .. I had already sworn i'd not take anymore .

Sorry that you had to go through it.
I used to run into no shows in my art teaching business which I still have where individual student would pay after class in my home studio. I started charging upfront and it has changed their attitude. No show, no loss for me except for some time that I spend preparing myself for that student's individual needs. Well, next class I'm already prepared.
My regular classes have to pay upfront for a month. If they don't show up, no big deal. Maybe you should charge a retainer.

In my last post, I shared a wider shot of these amazing rock formations at this location. I added the FE 100-400 GM to my kit to capture intimate scenes like this. I wanted to isolate some of the red rocks covered in snow as the soft morning light washed over the scene. The color grading I selected was filled with warmer hues to help emphasize the light and give the scene a more ethereal feel. One of my favorites so far from 2020.

That sucks. I can’t for the life of me think what tfp stands for though?

Love this one more. The little snow covered road in the background really pulls me in. The many layers of mountains
and their different strata is super nice. Great light of course.
