:-) OT Warning...

I tend to use my computer and monitor to watch most videos and movies streaming online. My current monitor is a Dell UltraSharp U2717D, 27" at 2560 x 1440 resolution. Since I can stream 4k movies, and have a 4k external player, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 4k monitor. Due to space limitations, I'd like to keep the dimensions at 27 or 28 inches and being HDR 10 compatible would be a plus. I'm not brand limited and I do want a quality viewing experience.

Does anyone have a recommendation or two for a monitor that meets those requirements for me?

Jose I just watched Professor Northrump's video on the 1DXiii. Seems like a winner as long as you can hold the camera at arms length ;)

They are fantastic cameras, when I was with Canon I shot quite a bit with the 1 series bodies but they are huge and heavy but they sure did feel good in the hand, everything about those cameras are about speed and functionality. Back in the day I was doing a lot of pano work and lugging that body, a complement set of lenses, a RRS full Pano kit and a tripod was difficult to say the least.

I bought myself a ViewSonic VP2785-4K 27" 4K Monitor right before Thanksgiving and have been very happy with it. it is great to be able to edit at almost 100% view. That monitor is on the pricey side as I bought it mainly for photo editing and there may be cheaper options.

Thanks for the recommendation Lenny. It is a bit on the pricey side for sure. I will definitely check into it though.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, as you mention, it's the same resolution as the monitor I now use rather than the higher 4k resolution I'm looking for.

Anyone here a 'detective'? ;-)a

I've been messing with a couple of old portraits I have and by looking at these two images, I began to wonder if it isn't the same person taken at different times in his life or is the one on the left a son of the one on the right?

Looking at the way his hair is parted, the eyebrows, nose, and ears, what do you think?

The man on the right is my great-grandfather.

Ive considered moving to a 4K monitor too but as primarily game on my PC, 4K isn’t as feasible as 1440p is. Otherwise you can look at Asus, monitors like their PB279Q may be what you’re after.

the a7r4 ..

has me thinking a bit.

i enjoy using it much more than the a73.. first because it has a better AF , and 2nd it just feels better in the hand.. a lot better.

in my opinion sony ergos are still not that great , but the a7r4 is definetly a step in the right direction.

but damn the file sizes.

i haven't had it that long and haven't even shot that much , but i already see it.
I've never been one to delete photos , unless they are really nothing , or test shots .

but the a7r4 has me re thinking that... i'm also taking less photos because of file size.

its definitely not the tool for every outing , no matter how much i want the improved AF and ergos.

i think i will soon order one of those bottom grips for my a73 , and start using that again for the casual stuff.

Sounds like the future A7IV could be perfect for those of us who don’t want to deal with the huge file sizes but still would love to have the improved ergos and other improvements like (hopefully) colored AF point, real time tracking, dual UHS-II, etc.
