One of the reasons I asked for thoughts on the Petapixel article is that I've been experimenting with different customization settings.
Previously, I downloaded Mark Galer's settings and experimented with them. I'm not a big fan of his but playing with his Custom settings helped me get more comfortable with higher ISO settings. I still don't like auto-ISO that much, but have a better appreciation for my Sony's ability at high ISO's.
I'm not shooting for income from my photography, its my hobby and I have the luxury of experimenting. Just trying to learn more and work out what customization works best for me.
It's always great to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things. Once you get accustomed to a certain way it will very likely match your style.
I use auto iso a lot and I really find it works extremely well for me. I just monitor the shutter speed even though I set the ceiling/max. In some situations when I know I'm shooting available light I will accept whatever potentially grainy images I get. The beauty is the A73 for me has been rewarding in providing me great clean files even when pushed hard high in ISO.
This is where I've been messed up and spoiled with the Sony sensor. It just does an excellent job in providing recoverable or great files in extremely crappy situations. I almost never use a tripod.
I've been using eye AF but only where I there is 1 or 2 people. This is when I have no room for error. If there is a group I will just rely on old school focus hold and hit the shutter button. My brain is still hard wired to focus / recompose once a touch a Canon mirrored body which is so natural for me. Sony is becoming more natural to focus hold and adapting to the AF-C technique.

Rookie mistake).
