That tree and dry grass looks like something that might be seen on the African Savana rather than the UK.

That's exactly what I was thinking, too.

Nice shot Lee, and nice tree! Where is it, and how 'dark' is it for astro? Milky Way visible? Ah, just realised you said north facing, so I guess not!?!?

"Resilient"

Conditions were just about right to execute this image in which I wanted to convey not only cold but also resilience as represented by these trees clinging on to the side. I was especially drawn to the twisted branches of the tree on the right.

Most of the Mendips is okay for Astro. It's not going to be Elan Valley, Scotland, South Coast levels, but still do-able. Mainly bortle 4 down there. I've even got some as close as Chew Valley Lake!!

So looks like Gitzo is not going to help me with fixing my tripod. :-(

I think I'll go ahead and order that new Markins base plate from B&H. I will eventually upgrade to an FLM or RRS tripod in the future and stay away from Gitzo.

Want CV 40 1.2 and the 200-600 this year.

But........... Might be changing my career back again. Consulting in land development and construction. Just not gelling with the career position in a Non Profit development pace. So maybe I will be standing on a corner beggin for change for a lens

A fascinating aerial battle ensued over the morsel in the flying eagle's talons, eventually entailing 4 eagles and several ravens or crows, I couldn't tell which. This is a frozen bit of Tule Lake, at the Tule Lake NWR at the northern most part of California. A7R4 and 100-400.
