So looks like Gitzo is not going to help me with fixing my tripod. :-(

I think I'll go ahead and order that new Markins base plate from B&H. I will eventually upgrade to an FLM or RRS tripod in the future and stay away from Gitzo.

That sucks Alfredo

Thanks Eddie. Gitzo has one of the worst customer services around. Shame because they have a reputation for high quality tripods.

I just got the ok from she who I obey to get the 200-600 and bam, the bloody hot water cylinder at home blows up and floods the house for a couple of hours. The cost of replacement cylinder and the insurance excess (which doesn't cover the cylinder) is the same as the cost of the lens.

Oh well, it was close............. :(

That sucks Gary. I am returning my Sigma 35mm for similar reasons. More to fix my tripod and pay for an upcoming Spring Break trip with the family.

that has been the story of my life for the last few years...every time I make a big commission, or sell some pieces, or win some prizes...something stupid happens...I bought the a73 recently and keep waiting for the stupid to happen...my camera fund always ends up covering the stupid...

Sorry to hear Gary! I guess it’s one less lens you have to hide from the wife? Haha

Went out with my camera today at work and snuck off a few photos. A mostly gray day but had a little bit of sun. One of these two photos I replaced the sky in Luminar 4. I'm curious if it is obvious which photo has the fake sky?

Heat pump (package unit of gas heat plus AC) suddenly died in the city house. Replacement units are like 7K :(
I sniffed around, found the smell of raw unburnt gas. Opened her up, found the igniter, took pliars and bent them closer
together (It's like a spark plug with a gap). Instantly fired up and has been working fine for 2 weeks now.
Why mention? Maybe it is something you can fix. I hate paying high-school drop outs more than I make to fix something
youtube can direct me on.

"Fearless"

I was quite fortunate to have captured 3 brave skiers up on the side of the mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park. They had skied from the top minutes earlier. My jaw dropped when I saw then descend down that slope. Fearless was the word that came to my mind. Thankfully no avalanches that morning.

Looks like great fun, except for the hike up.
