"Ascend"

This is the landscape oriented version of my 3 skiers image. On this one I went for a bit moodier edit to add additional drama to an already dramatic scene. Again, the 3 skiers can be found on the left. They were going up for another ski run and therefore I titled this one "Ascend".

All

Anyone using the Canon 17mm TSE on a Sony body? I have the 24TSE for years but sold it at one point, was always interested in purchasing the 17 but the cost was ridiculous so I never did. Recently came across a used copy at a really great price and I'm now reconsidering it again.

It would be primarily used for architectural work and almost exclusively for shift. I have some concerns about corner sharpness of this lens when shifted however so if you can comment on it it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I like the 17TSE on the r2...I have used it quite a bit. Just don't shift to the full extent...it maybe gets a bit soft on the extreme edges and suffers more from the shadow than it did on Canon FF.

I took a break from editing winter landscape images to work on something completely different. I'm not too fond of zoos but I took my family to the Denver zoo today. I brought along my FE 100-400 GM lens. This is a close-up shot of one of the elephants. I used the mid morning light to shape the profile of the elephant's features. Hope y'all enjoy this one.

For the RIV shooters, have you heard about the noise issue even at ISO400?

The Sony RIV shooters group in FB are talking about it.

to be honest i've seen those too. i shoot RE from ISO320 to 500. When editing I can see them. I thought this is the result of high MP.

Thanks for your thoughts and samples. I've shot quite a bit with the Canon TSEs over the years, especially with the 24mm but never with the 17. Came across a really great deal on what looks like a pristine copy and I figured I will give it a go, picking it up tomorrow:-), testing this weekend.

Thanks

With everything Sony has impressively achieved in building their amazing lens lineup they need to address tilt-shifts. In particular I want Sony to make a superior 24mm tilt shift to start their tilt-shift range.

In the meantime congrats and enjoy your TS-E 17mm! It’s not amazing, but it’s very good and can deliver unique images that would be tedious and cumbersome to create with other lenses (using multi-bracket pano techniques).

Nicely done shallow focus shot for a landscape. I think it works well with the orange colored bush anchoring the tree leaning at a precarious angle.

Thanks Gene. I did like the thin left tree & the obvious curved one together. I wasn't sure whether to close the aperture to have the orange in focus too or not. I decided against in the end......
