"Low Battery"

This was captured as I was hiking back on the trail after a cold but exciting morning of exploring and shooting. My Sony batteries were pretty much all dead. By chance, I popped one in desperate to get a quick focus stack series of this scene. I fired up the a7RII and low and behold, the battery registered about 25%. I quickly setup my composition, captured a series of images for focus stacking, and this was the final result. I left one hiker in the scene after cloning a few others.

OK thanks. What about L bracket?

I have RRS brackets on all 3 bodies. I tried a Kirk ages ago on a 5d2 and it never fit right...my first A7R came with 4 different brackets...the RRS and Markins fit the best, the 2 cheap ones didn't fit well at all and one the arca rails seemed out of square...so...I bite the bullet and just buy the RRS.

Thank you Robert! That lake was beautiful especially with the mountains in the background. Just glad I had a bit more battery to get the shot.

Completely agree Travis. I don't get why folks skimp on these important parts which will hold their expensive camera bodies.

yep...I know I keep saying it...and most are probably tired of hearing it...I have grown to appreciate the craftsmanship of certain things...RRS gear being one brand that I really like how well made their stuff is. I used to think it was absurd to spend that kind of money on it...but now...I just save up to do it once...my dad tried cheaper alternatives for camera plates and was always fiddling with them to get them right...then when he bought my 7D that had a RRS bracket on it, he realized how much easier it was than the kind he had from Manfrotto that were one size fits all...it was always loose, catching on the bag or stabbing him...he bought another RRS for the other camera now.

I bought a RRS bullhead about 8 years ago and it has been flawless. Every camera since then has had a RRS plate and it still works exactly like it did on day 1.

I got the BH-55 from David a while back...it has been hit on things a couple times and is still solid and works so smoothly...I have an older Induro head on my other tripod that really needs to be replaced...one of the knobs is bent so it doesn't operate the way it should and it pinches my fingers when I tighten it...but I so rarely go for that set of legs and always opt for the TVC33 and BH55 even though it is not light...

RRS has two brackets, lite one and another one for $200. Anyone know the differences? I assume for both with bracket installed I can still open all the doors?

On topic of skimping, I have no issues with $10k lens or $10k camera but I have problems with $200 bags. When RRS bungled the Fuji GFX50s bracket (some due to Fuji's putting that battery where it is), I went for cheaper looking ones and they worked pretty good. For my XT1 I had $30 something which worked like a charm, still have it. If a thing doesn't look good, fit well, it will be in the trash and at least for the cheaper XT1 bracket it worked out as well costing a lot more.

Also looking for a L bracket. I bought a cheaper L bracket, didn't work out good. Too much flex. Thinking RRS now unless something a bit lower price but good quality.

My sonys fail much more than the off brands

Just to be clear this is the "road home" from vacation. This is about 6 hours north of where I live.

The shot is of Mt. Shasta and is indeed a beautiful sight. This is the Klamath Basin on the California/Oregon border. January and February bring large numbers of bald eagles to the area, which is why I was visiting.
