I doubt that many sports shooters will keen on using a lens that's missing 20mm at the long end, at least for professional gigs.

it's a valid argument as well as the weight factor. The next closest thing is the 70-200mm GM, which has a 10% reach advantage, however the weight is about 80% more. You can carry the 28-75 f2.8 + 70-180 f2.8 and it would still weigh less than the GM. Tamron lenses are high on practicality, less on conventional specs.

And all makes me look forward to it (as well) even more, especially when I am (we all are?) expecting the pricing to make it a really good alternative to anything else that's out there.

Thanks Lee. These scenes are all new to me too. We didn't really have this in the Texas hill country either. The geology here in western Colorado is something else.

I guess whilst the thread has discussion on a wide range of subjects, it's also just as good that the thread contains such a wide range of genres and styles too.

Cory, you're so right! This is part of the front range. Further west is pure Rocky mountain country.

I've been fortunate to have been there quite a few times now but it never gets old.

On bus from work to home. Just reading rumors that Canon will be coming out with 70-135mm f2 RF lens. If they do, that is pretty good if you mainly shoot portraits like me.

Help me out with a buying decision: What is better about the a7R IV vs a7R III (besides resolution). Is the EVF significantly better? Improved AF.

I’m just doing a little dream-scheming. A used a7R III would be a whole lot less expensive. Main thing I’m wanting above all else is excellent AF upgrade. The a7R II’s AF is awful “AF”. :p

A7R4 EVF is much better for me, especially when I use my manual focus lenses. IIRC it has 5 million dots vs the 3.4 million or so dots in the A7R3 EVF. My experience is that the AF with adapted EF lenses is also better on the A7R4.
