This is my Minolta Spot Meter. It meters ambient as well as flash. I might be able to use it for shooting some film in the near future.

nice...I would love to have one of those...and if I ever get my Medium Format Hassy...I will need one.

Didn't do a lot of LE in DVNP this year...not many clouds to speak of, and when we did have some, they didn't work. But when we were at Rhyolite, the clouds worked and were the right density. This is an SR image, because I only had 12 stops with me, and no remote...so, 12 Stops got me to 10 seconds, SR took over from there doing 16 images...yes, the verticals are off...sometimes I am ok with it...

One of my favorite lenses.

Welcome to POTN!

More camera purchasing contemplation: We’re past due for an a7 IV aren’t we?

Now that I think of it it’s almost certainly coming out this year, so I’m going to hold off deciding on or buying anything till I see all the cool goodies Sony packs into the a7 IV.

We are due for an A7 IV (camera I was looking forward to upgrading to before I chose the RIV). However, Sony is shifting processing efforts to the PS5 due later this year. This in combination with the manufacturing effects being caused by the corona virus has apparently pushed this camera out.

Interesting. The virus as a delay makes sense. Natural disruptions happen. I wouldn’t have imagined that the PS5 would have anything to do with camera production. And speaking of the PS5 and Xbox Series X; I’m wondering if they might suffer a delay. Time will tell. :)

So I am busting my "next lens" plan. I was going to do a sony evaluation for the 200-600 during for an airshow I have coming up but I got the request in late and they cant get me one.

I know i am going to buy the 75-180 Tamron and sell the 28-75. Still looking at selling the Infra red A6000 and possibly the 90 Macro. And HAVE to get the CV40 this year.

But now I am considering pulling the trigger on the 200-600 early for the air show and since I seem to shoot as much wildlife as landscape. But I am a bit concerned about having a 75-180, a 100-400gm and a 200-600. If the 75-180 is really good I could maybe get rid of the 100-400 but I love that lens.

For those that have the 200-600 and the 100-400 what are your thoughts.

I know I asked this a while back but looking for updated feedback.

Thanks

I have both the 100-400 and the 200-600. I have not decided yet, if to out the 100-400. As it is a GM !
The 200-600 has the reach, but sometimes I get results that make me think about its performance (I accept this could just be operator error). So at present I'm keeping the 100-400 for doing bike races as its a bit more portable. There is only 1/3 stop difference between the 2 lenses, so its not that.
I use the 200-600 for motor racing, with the option of the x1.4 teleconverter, this gives 840mm on a full frame. I'm not getting this with anything else, with high speed shutter and I cant afford the 600mm f4.

I have both the 100-400 and 200-600 and am keeping both. I like the 100-400 for portability on the A7R4, which still gives me 600mm in crop mode and since I already own it, I just look at is as a sunk cost. That said, the A9/200-600 combo is just giving me really great results and is my go to birding rig, generally with the 1.4 attached. 741mm@f9:

I don't browse it on a daily basis. I was just passing a bit of time this evening. But today's Explore page just seems to contain a lot of 'brushes' of varying descriptions.......
