I don’t see a path back to Canon, but I’m already wanting the R5. Thankfully Canon’s RF lenses are astronomically expensive so I’m forced to stick it out with the crappy Sony bodies. :p

Some things I like about the R5 (in case anyone wonders):
1. Overall body design is elegant to look at...design matters to me.
2. Fully articulating screen - and an excellent screen at that.
3. Great menus and ergonomics.
4. Superior (on paper) IBIS system that works with lenses to double up on stabilization.
5. Very nice reasonable resolution.

I don’t know anything about the new sensor - as long as it’s got a 13+ DR it’s fine.

Lens-wise, their RF 85 1.2 is astonishingly good - with an astonishing price to go with it. Like I said, the cost to switch for me is prohibitive, so I’m content with what I have.

For a duration of time I was feeling torn in keeping my mirrored Canon system. I still use it for critical shooting events.

I’m just eager to test and try an R5 due to native performance using adapted L glass. I think if I did not own any Canon glass I wouldn’t be so interested.

I can slowly adopt RF glass but zero rush!

I guess I’ll patiently wait for canon demo days to test the R5.

yeah, my backyard is pretty wild...there was a small juvenile hawk diving in and out of the trees tonight. The one pictured here is one of the adults. We have had a pair of them for essentially the entire time we have lived here.

Nice Cooper's Travis!
I found one the other day too about a block from the house...usually displaced by RTHs....so a happy find; sadly un-imagable in the limb clutter.

Is it a Cooper's or a Red Shouldered? I thought Coopers were more gray?

I used the holiday today to take the 200-600 out for a spin on the A7R4 (I make the Monday after Spring Foward a holiday every year as I hate the time change and want to sleep in :p), I had tweaked the tracking sensitivity per Mark Smith's advice. I got more keepers than before, but I still think this lens performs better on the A9.

Do you have the 100-400? Do you plan to eventually have both 100-400 and 200-600? Both truly excel in different ways.

I only have the 70-200 and the 2x. In a perfect world I would have all 3. I have fallen in love with shooting Motorsports with the 100-400, but the 200-600 is much to big for that...maybe before arthritis and a bad shoulder...but I cant hand hold that lens for long.

I’m most curious to see the R6 once announcer/released.

The cost of switching back is too high for me now but I know in maybe 2-3 years time I’ll either add the Canon as a second body or switch back completely. I’m really happy with my Sony system but that doesn’t mean anything as I was perfectly happy with Canon too before switching.

I'm just grateful in the gear I own. The Sony on many occasions really shocked me in how the images looked so clean even in challenging light. I just always take for granted high IQ where light is easy and ideal.

The R6 is something I've seen online but in reality both R5 and R6 are just unobtainable unicorns at this moment. I'm hoping Canon will have an mRAW and sRAW for smaller size files vs the suspected 45MP files. If I have a Canon UWA lens and my 70-200 f/2.8IS mk2 adapted to any new upcoming Canon R5/6 I will be beyond happy. I was analyzing a recent photo shoot a friend of mine had with a local photog using an EOS R. The human render and skin tone just has something very different to a Sony file from my A73. I just feel the need for a Canon mirrorless body. This way I can use my old glass get get a serious upgrade in a body with NO micro adjusting and IBIS. I speculate the AF will be "meh" just like most mirrorless bodies in low light/low contrast situations. I still cannot let my mirrored bodies go while using external flash red focus assist for hired events :)

I will admit if the A7r4 has a firmware update in lower res RAW files I'll be excited. I just wonder if the immediate compressed lower res will improve the high iso performance. Lots to look forward too in the 2020!!

That’s what I thought (that you either already owned or wanted to buy the 100-400 for motorsports), so you surprised me a little expressing interest in a 200-600.

I’ve got a great RRS monopod sitting in my closet (from a while back when I had a 500mm f/4L), which will be nice for whenever I get rolling with my own 200-600mm.
