Nice detail Gene. Speaking of Flickr, I'm close to cancelling my Pro account. I just don't see the value there and the community is almost nonexistent. Add to that the increased price and I'm not feeling too optimistic about Flickr.

Thanks Alfredo, that's about a 50% crop.

I've been thinking the same thing lately. And since I have a Smugmug account too, I'm considering migrating my Flickr images over to Smugmug. Originally, I used each for different purposes but now, there's probably no sense paying for two photo storage sites.

Right on Gene. I have a Smugmug account too that I use to host my images for sharing on forums and as a backup of sorts. It doesn't make sense to pay for that and Flickr. Seems Smugmug has a real strategy issue or and identity issue for Flickr.

Anybody have recommendations for solar chargers? I mean the type you take on a backpack hike.

Why not use it as a cheap storage? That's what I am doing. Planning to cancel my zenfolio once I have all images uploaded to flickr pro. OK, I see you have SM. Zenfolio doesn't allow posting bigger sizes. I asked so many times but nothing.

I’m not sure I would trust Flickr for storage purposes. If I need storage and/or back up i’m going with a company who specializes in that area. Flickr seems all over the place with regards to its purpose. Not to mention periodic crashing and an app that isn’t Worth anything more than it’s $0 price tag. I only use Flickr for the bbc codes so that I can share on POTN.

I've been using flickr as a cloud storage platform for a couple of months now and it works surprisingly well.  The uploadr desktop app automatically syncs photos the directories where I store my photos to my camera roll, and will actually automatically catalog my photos....it sorts my photos into albums based on the name of the directory where they are saved.  It will even create new albums whenever I add new directories on my pc.   It's probably the only cloud based platform that fits the needs of photographers...they just do a crap job of marketing that so no one knows it even has the functionality.

That said, I'm not really sure that flickr as a whole is going to survive...they are begging for money at this point and basic maintenance stuff like fixing the smartphone app have been neglected for several months.  But my pro subscription is paid up for a year so I might as well use it.

I also have a google drive account that is syncing up my photo directories to my google photos account.  It works, but it doesn't sync full resolution files and doesn't attempt to catalog things at all.  It's just a mass pile of photos sorted by date until I go in and manually catalog everything.  Flickr does  a much better job IMO.

You’re really impressing me with your sports captures with the 135GM and the a9...a great combo in your hands. :)

After a lot of thinking it over, as much as I’d love to upgrade, I think I’m going to stick with my Batis 135mm for the foreseeable future. It’s got great size/weight that really suits my usage. Regardless, I’ll be thoroughly enjoying all the 135GM shots that get posted here on POTN.

Thanks!

Like who else? Amazon, MS, Google are pretty expensive. I am suggesting flickr as a place for processed jpegs like I currently use zenfolio. SmugMug is similar to Zenfolio.

Onedrive is really good! If you subscribe to Office 365 you get 1tb of storage free with it.

Flickr really needs to choose between being a photo storage or portfolio site, it can't be both. I would prefer they become a proper photography community and even if all the free users abandon the site and remove all their photos, there would be less costs for them to maintain their servers.
