Another Riv+200600 I just posted on Flickr from the Fl trip.
Maybe not perfect but nothing I'd post complaints about.

I keep reading those reports at FM too.
For some reason I haven't had those problems.

Very interesting. Yeah I’m not sure how widespread the issues are.

Just the right amount of light on the foreground :)

Thank you Lee.

Does anyone here have first hand experience of the Samyang/Rokinon 85 f/1.4 AF Sony lens?

I cant decide between the FE85 1.8 and the 85GM and now this has caught my attention. Apologies if its been discussed before

EDIT - Then theres the Sigma - Too many choices :D (although that one is massive!)

Eddie, not sure if this is the right lens but Dustin has a review.

Anyone use the Camrote app? Fred from FredMiranda forum recently published a time lapse using it and the results look great.

Eddie, did you purchase Jimmy McIntyre's latest course? It's steeply discounted now because the original version did not demonstrate Raya Pro. The revised course is excellent. Jimmy is a great teacher.

Just finished editing this one from my 2019 Death Valley trip. Sunset was a beautiful one at this cracked mud tile location. Notice the coyote prints in the foreground.

Stunning. Love how you can see the progression of the sunset towards the foreground of the frame.

Yeah I got it.

Eddie I think the 75 1.8 is worth considering. I expected it to be a 75mm version of the FE 35 1.8 and its gritty rendering, but it actually renders very nicely. Aside from weak flare resistance, I actually think the rendering is comparable to the 85GM and its really sharp wide open too.

I don't know how it out there, but the corinavirus has become a highly politicized thing in the US.

It wouldn't surprise me if there have been "skirimishes" elsewhere in the forum

I can sadly confirm that there have been "skirmishes" elsewhere in the forum, so much so that the coronavirus-specific thread was locked.

To be honest, though, I think that this forum's rules regarding political stuff (specifically, the definition of what is considered political) is somewhat opaque. At least the mods have been lenient of late, at least relating to coronavirus issues.

There might be isolated cases of that, I’ve heard a few things. I’ve been travelling about (I’m a key worker and still working, but mostly from home) and haven’t been stopped. My mate in work travelled down to towards the England border for work and he did get pulled over but all was fine when he showed his key worker letter (our head office is in Carlisle)

There’s was an anti lockdown protest in Glasgow yesterday where about 50 people turned out. They were holding banners that said things like “fake virus” and “stop the fake pandemic lockdown”. Absolute morons

We're having similar measures where I live (right on a provincial border), where we're technically forbidden from crossing over from one to the other, but in our case only one province is actually enforcing it and randomly. Makes things unclear at best, and unpractical since the only place I can buy spirits within walking distance is on the proverbial other side.

It's also the only photogenic side of the river, meaning that my already limited photo opportunities were only much more curtailed as a result. (I've also tired of cooking+photographing, which takes a lot of energy... hence my more limited activity as of late.)

Got this guy today. Not exactly compact, but it feels more like a 24-70 type zoom in hand than a typical f2.8 telephoto zoom. Sigmas 35 1.2 felt noticeably heavier and more bulky when I picked it up to take this shot.

I won't bore you guys with shots of disinfectant bottles, but first impressions are that AF is fast, lens is sharp on the long end, and IBIS sufficiently stabilizes the lens at 1/125s (where I shoot most of my shots of people).

First Tammy 70-180 photos. AF is fast. Lens is sharp. Bokeh is good. Rendering is pleasant. I think it s a winner.

Thanks for posting these - glad that your impressions have been positive.

I pulled the trigger on one myself last night - last one in stock at Camera Canada's Amazon store. I figured that, even with restrictions progressively easing, distance will remain key to photoshoots, when we're allowed to have them.

And I figured that, since I'm spending less money than usual nowadays, I might as well go ahead and purchase the most expensive item on my acquisition plan right away.

Thats weird, the post of mine you quoted was previously deleted by a mod for being political. It must have been reinstated

I havent bought it but I was tempted on the discount. I still might. I want to get more into Raya Pro now that it seems a bit easier to use with the lightroom style sliders

Ill have a further look into it, thats reassuring. I cant remember why I ended up disregarding it previously. Blinded by the draw of the GM i think
