The lockdowns have been tough on everyone wanting to shoot some action. Stay positive and keep shooting what you can.

I got lucky and one nearby Air Show went off in a modified format, Drive-in style. The show was a bit shorter than usual, no static displays, vendors etc. But I did get to workout my A9 a little. That 200-600 would have been perfect as I usually want to go further on the tele end instead of the wide with the jets. I am certainly not complaining about my 100-400. Here are a couple afterburner shots of a F-35 and F-22. It was great to get out to any event this year.

Really love the heat disruption on the first

I love the F22....... But SHHHH I have to say I love the F35 now. I am going to be inducted to the Honorary Commander Program for 2 years at Luke AFB which trains on the F35. I am hoping to get some shots like this as I will have base access and if I lose 20lbs..... a ride in an F-16 next year.

I want to Chime in. I should say I don't like disneyland much. Being afraid of moving things and heights, it is worthless for me except parades and fireworks. But I go for my kids. Anyways most concession stands to breakfast with disney characters are not good, food wise. But if you do go the few restaurants they have inside the park, I would say food is pretty good and just little bit more expensive. This is for the Disneyland in CA. Not sure how it is in Florida. I have had very good pizza, pastas in a nice outdoor setting. Once we went to really fancy food place for lunch as I was hungry and there were lines everywhere else except at this restaurant. Service was excellent. Food was very good and I am picky. To me most typical steak places that charge $100 don't know how to cook good. Another time over Thanksgiving weekend, we ended up going to another restaurant in Disney Walk. Again regular place wasn't available but their upstairs restaurant was, so we opted for it. Again, food was very good and we had a good view from our seats. One time I tried this regular sandwich place and wife got a cauliflower sandwich. Man it was as good if not better than most burgers I have had. Again not saying all food is good but there are good options available. Problem is I can't have them for lunch/dinner everyday as wife will complain about the cost and most are full days in advance.

Speaking of Disneyland, the first time I visited the original Disneyland in Anaheim, Ca. was when I was 11 years old, 1956. That was the year after it first opened. My high school graduating class of 1963 went there for "Grad Nite". I believe the last time I went to Disneyland was around 1973. Has it changed any since then? :p:lol:

Here's the Grad Nite flyer I still have.

The food and atmosphere is definitely better in Disneyland than Florida....I miss making the trips out to Disneyland, but its just too crowded nowadays whereas WDW is much larger in size and the experience is more streamlined. But it's too streamlined in the sense that everything just feels like a process that is optimized for efficiency...this goes for the food in the sit-down restaurants too. You see the same food in different restaurants, just themed a bit differently for the parts of the park you are in. Disneyland seems to have more true standalone type restaurants that control their own menus.

Now that we're home schooling and can travel off season, we're planning a trip out to the west coast once COVID calms down. So expensive for all of us fly during peak seasons.

Agree and with the ticket prizes they charge. But folks keep coming. When kids were smaller we preferred lego land as lot less crowded and cheaper.

BTW - More fires our side. Looks like two of the fancy resorts in napa valley got destroyed. Sad state of affairs.

Thanks for thinking about me :)
We've gotten an owl on all but one trip to Reelfoot.
BEs are there year around but concentrate in winter.
You know I go there for Osprey.
Did you eat at Boyettes?

I tried to get a good view of the Owl, but it stayed hidden pretty good anytime I came close enough to see...and as soon as I backed off it would come back to looking for what it was after.
I didn't see any BE's other than the ones at the Raptor flight center, and that was kinda sad. I did not know about the Osprey, what time of year are they there.

Nope, no Boyette's too many people and I am still avoiding large crowds...

I'm with Lee on B/W but this one speaks.

Thanks. I had no intention of it being anything other than B&W!

Love the pullback of the Genie rig.

I love that rig, it is fun...and creates some cool stuff. I am having fun learning something new.

I am soooo jealous. That F-16 ride would inspire me to stay on my diet. Dangle that carrot over me and I would drop 50 (though I may be a tad skinny at that weight but would do it). You should have an outstanding opportunity to get shots if you are on base. Both of these jets are amazing. I brought my wife with me to the show and she loved it. As the F-22 is doing the demo, she is sitting there with her mouth open in awe. All she could say was "It's a UFO". These things move in ways you do not expect.

That flyer is so cool. And to answer your question, it has likely changed a lot. Living on the east coast I was only to Disneyland one time a few years ago. From what I heard they kept the classics and added new attractions. I have been to the Magic Kingdom multiple times. The first was in 1974 shortly after opening and it changed quite a bit every time I have been back.

Hope you get your F16 ride, that would be awesome, and not many get the chance.

Thanks for the earlier message Mike. :-) Happily the US Air Force visited Fairford a few years ago to display the F-22 and the F-35. Both were jaw droppingly awesome! I still love the sound of the Typhoon the most but the power of these newer jets is insane.

The Air Tattoo (Fairford) did a virtual show this year. Only then did I learn the so say fast fly pasts they do is actually less then half their potential top speed!

Did another shoot this weekend with one of my local models. It was fun using the Sigma 105mm f1.4. First time I filled my 64GB card. Personally I don't get this Sony colors vs Canon or Fuji. This is exactly what my Canon would have given me.

I should add, shot at my work place. It is all empty due to WFH. But I knew some furniture would be available for use, which was the case. On right side, is one of the best cafes on our Mountain View campus.

Bobby,

Shoot 500-1500+++ events photos. You will see a characteristic colour science between a Sony with GM16-35 f/2.8 and a 5dmk4 with 16-35 f/2.8mk2. I know....... because I see this in my pre-covid events I shot. Certainly glass has some responsibility in colours. I still find my Sigma 24-70mm ART produces better colours than my GM 16-35 and 70-200.

I also find Fuji, Canon and Sony all have different behavior in white balance. This is where the "colour" can look different. So far with my A73 the AWB is not nearly has good as my 5dmk4 or my previous fuji gear.

I'll agree that the 105 f/1.4 is a sweet lens on my A73. I'm afraid that if I buy a Canon R5 or R6 I'm NOT gonna have that kind of lens to use. Currently R5 are severely back ordered and even the Canon EF to RF mount is on back order.

I hope the A74 has 30MP. That is my sweet spot in universal use. If I buy an A7r4 right now I'd simply use it in crop mode as I truly seldom need 60mp. I know that your application the high res is a bonus for your model shoots.

I will now jump on the Canon Mirrorless bandwagon as the R5/6 finally exists. I will also continue to use Sony.

Due to Covid, I've abandoned photography at the moment and have put emphasis on my Hifi audio, cars and home reno. The Fuji GFX100 doesn't seem so expensive now LOL!!! My local camera shop is back ordered 29 people at the moment. Projected time is December to fulfill all Canon R5 orders. Gives me time to wait for Sony :)

I better get shooting before the Canadian weather gets nasty. I'm wanting to shoot some autumn family portraits :)

Seems the Sony thread is going strong. Lotsa enthusiasm!!

Alan I wish I had a canon to shoot with. I did carry my Fuji GFX but I wanted to focus on the eye AF on the Sony using my Sigma and to me the combo did very well. I didn't adjust any WB or colors. Her skin color is pinkish hues and Sony gave me exactly that. None of the greenish stuff I keep hearing on various forums. Strobe power wise I was like 1/256 + 1/3 stop on my AD600.

I don't know how families can afford today's prices at Disney properties. Last time for us was 2012 with Epcot and Disneyworld while we were already in Florida for a Space Shuttle launch. Epcot was having a "foodie" event, but even that was rather disappointing.

Yes, the Napa Sonoma wine country is burning again. Ash is falling like snow. We evacuated the dogs to my sons house Sunday night. My neighbor and I evacuated our horses yesterday. We're technically not in a mandatory evacuation zone, but it is mandatory 9/10ths of a mile up the road. One front of the fire is 3 miles away, but the winds now are pushing it away from us. The cars are packed with all the critical stuff and we can leave on 10 minutes notice.

Fun fall times in the wine country...fires, falling ash, and evacuations.

I know it sounds trite but here's hoping you, your family, and everyone else in the fire areas stay safe.
