I might be crazy but is the WB off a bit? Looks a little magenta on my calibrated Mac. Are her pants white?

Funny stuff, of sorts. I ordered a couple of small items from B&H earlier this weekend, and according to the FedEx tracking my items are supposed to arrive by 8pm tonight (less than two hours from now)... yet, I'm not sure how that's supposed to happen, since they apparently went to Memphis (?!) rather than going north from NJ...wth? I'll be surprised if I get to see this package tonight. Thankfully it's not urgent at all.

You're right, I get the same here. On a calibrated ASUS ProArt, pants look a bit magenta.

get the A9, nothing quite like it. 20fps seems absurd...... but if you rate in camera two or three in a sequence (very high likelihood they will be sharp), and import only the rated, you cut down a bunch of clutter. There's also the more bold approach, LOCK 2-3 in a sequence, do that for all sequences, then delete all images on your card, only the good sequences remain. 20 is not too much, I'de gladly take 30-40 fps. With the A7siii, I'm doing 60fps video + screen grab + Heif = great for perfectly timed shots, with the right configuration, the Heif files are pretty darn good.

Ha! Just when I thought I was fully swayed to the a7c I read this. I appreciate the input though, this has swayed me back to the A9. See if the a7c didn’t have a silver version it would be A9 all the way, I’m a sucker for that retro look :D

Eddie....I remember a while back complaining about no joystick on the 6500 and being bummed that the new aps-c cams didn't have one. You made the comment that the new AF real time tracking should nearly eliminate the need for a joystick. Well...you were right. The realtime tracking has really simplified things. So yes...put the AF point on the head of the subject, recompose and let the camera do the rest. It'll grab the eye if possible. If it can't it'll grab the face. If it can't it'll follow the body with the dancing boxes.

The realtime tracking with the new cams has improved the user/creative experience significantly...in my case it's the 6400. It's pretty fun to shoot with. Now if it only had a fully articulating screen, front dial and 1/8000 SS (1/250 max sync).

If I was starting over I'd go for an A7c and a small 35/85 combo. I may go that route down the road.

Thanks Cory! I wish my a7riii had real time tracking. So many choices these days :)

I was actually going to ask you about that. So if I’m shooting someone I basically put their face in the middle of the frame, activate the af, then recompose, and the camera real time AF kicks in and jumps between face and eye when it can catch the eye? That’s sounds fine if it is that. I was worried about no joystick.

With regards to the A9, I don’t need 20fps, but the super sticky eye af is what’s appealing and the hit ratio people go on about. Do you really think the a7c af is on par? My a7riii is frustrating at times as the eye af still gives oof shots even at high shutter speed. It’s as if it doesn’t track the small movements fast enough in afc (kids that don’t stay still)

Yeah I tend to rely more on timing key moments than burst firing so I've never really cared for burst rates.

I can't speak for the sports and wildlife guys, but for photos of the family the a7c AF is golden. Eye-AF is super sticky, and when it loses the eye real time tracking takes over seamlessly.

The a7riv has real time tracking too but the eye AF is not nearly as sticky..has a tendency to jump too much and you get some slightly OOF shots, so I usually keep real time tracking off. That said, 24mp is noticeably more forgiving of focusing error in post than 61mp so there is that.

All in all a7c is probably the ideal family cam IMO. For all the things it compromises on, it makes up for in simplicity and mimalism. Real time tracking simplifies compositional process for sure

I think they're a pale pink. That's what I get after a w/b adjustment.

I did make it a tiny bit magenta side (I think from 2.8 to 4.3) as when I view on sRGB I see more yellow like typical Sony look. When I look in aRGB on my new calibrated monitor, it looks fine to me atleast. Hopefully others can chime in.

Edited:- I see what other are saying. I will post both versions to compare.

Ok Gasing for 2021

I just bought a 4x5 Wista for B&W film adventuring which was out of budget

I have the sigma 105 Macro on order should ship very soon.

But I am finding some frustration in my kit.

I like the CV10/Lox21/CV40 manual Kit..... Although my love of the Lox is starting to fail other than the wonderful sunstar factor it produces and hard stop for night stars. I am not finding the Tammy 17-28 a lens that I am in love with. It just gets used but I dont know I just dont like it as other lenses. And by the same token the Tammy 70-180 is a fabulous lens but not that I depend on. So thinking of selling out of the tamrons, still selling the IR 6000 camera as well.

I do eventually want to spend big bucks on the 600/4 and replace the 200-600 but covered for now.

So I am looking at the 12-24gm or the 14-24 sigma or probably the 16-35gm because that extra to 35 is nice especially since it gets me to 52 in crop. The 16-35 would also make a quick travel bag so A7r4 w/16-35 and 100-400.

Thoughts on those 3 lenses?
