In the past two weeks...the a9 has rolled over the 9999 file number twice now...closing in on 24K frames in 2+ weeks...racecars and birds...can't go anywhere...

I tried to take a picture of the backyard to show the perches I have setup. They blend in a lot, kinda on purpose. So I circled them. Not shown in the suet feeder that is just out of frame on the left. We had the most odd warm light last night, it had been raining all day...or course...big lens rented and it rains all day.

These are all deadwood from the trees in our yard, as you can see, we don't really maintain it. During the spring and summer almost no light makes it down to the ground, the tree canopy is so thick. So we leave it. The ivy from next door is becoming an issue that I am losing a battle with. WE have a creek back there as a good water source, one reason I think there are so many birds back here.

Great looking yard and looks ideal for bird photography. I can only dream of having that kind of space and scenic background to encourage birds to visit. As you can see from this shot of my 'yard', there isn't much space between the patio and the block wall that is my yard.

Well, it is natural-looking...I don't bag leaves, I just move them all to the back and spread them out every fall...and it is low maintenance. In the spring I don't even mow the weeds down, the birds like them for all the bugs. And it is deceptive on how big it is, my property stops at the creek and I really only have .4 acres...so not a lot. But with just the right bribes the birds have made it home and I enjoy it...since I can't get out and travel much right now.

One of the images from this morning...the a9 really is incredible for its ability to lock on and track. The 200-600 did really well in this, I was pleasantly surprised.

Would love to have backdrop in my backyard.
Looks like a great spot for calling in wildlife, I wasn't sure what you were calling out in the post with the ellipsis until I read the entire post, I think you did a great job camouflaging the perches and making them look natural with the surrounding environment.

We have all sorts of critters...deer, coyotes, the hawks of course, rabbits, chipmunks and all the birds. To think we are not in the country is amazing...it is an older neighborhood that preserved the old-growth trees along the creek, it is a little refuge for all the animals. When we walked out on the back deck 14 years ago, I knew this was home, and I have not wanted to move since.

In Toronto there are quite a number of neighbourhoods that have an abundant amount of wildlife primarily because there is are a number of rivers/creels that flow through the residential parts of the city and they are pretty much off-limits to new construction. Unfortunately I live right in the downtown core of the city so our wildlife is limited to was is migrating through in the fall and early spring or the resident mice and rats with wings ( House Sparrows, Pigeons etc ).

We do have a number or large city parks that the city has let "go wild " and they have an abundance of birds so I tend to go there to shoot.

Two from yesterday. Closer to home in Livermore. I just wanted to get out to take a break from all this WFH. Our new stay at home order starts today.

My new Leofoto tripod comes next week. Then hoping I can take the GFX for these kind of shots. For these I used smaller/lighter Tamron 28-200mm and using my older Feisol tripod but that tripod doesn't go high. The new one goes to almost 8 feet. How I cam going to manage it, will see. I did order a remote control pan/tilt head for it too. Hoping Sony imaging app let me control/view things from the camera up on the tripod.
