I've just read on another forum that someone has been "reliably told" the 35GM is shipping this week.....

I wonder if someone here can translate it for me. Image hosted by forum (1091635) © navydoc [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. I'm looking for ways to lighten my camera gear when hiking and not taking as many primes with me. Seems like a mid zoom would be a good versatile way to do that. Less lens swapping in the field too. - Alfredo -

I’ve no experience with the lens, but wish I did. Seems like a fantastic choice for landscapes and I’ve wanted one for years. Also, having your 16-35GM and 100-400GM along with a 24-105G in the middle would offer a formidable toolset for epic landscape trips as well. David | Flickr

Edit: If I get one, I would probably sell my Loxia 85mm prime. Love that lens but it's not too practical. if just for landscape (and you don’t need AF) the contax 35-70 would be another option for you at around half the price of the Sony Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

Indeed those 3 lenses would cover a nice range. I think I would prefer AF out of convenience but it’s hard to argue against the cost savings from the Contax lens. Plus I would want the extra 35mm reach of the 24-105mm. - Alfredo -

The 24-105 is the one I take when I'm just going out to shoot with no specific goal in mind. However, when I review the metadata of the 24-105 landscape images, I found most of the images were taken between 70-105mm focal lengths. Clearly I need to take the 85mm prime out more, but then I'd have to take a second wider lens along on these casual outings. I have an automatic bias against superzooms, but since you brought up this lens I’ve been watching YT reviews on it and, wow, I’m seriously impressed! You’ve got me considering one of these for myself. I have a Sigma 14-24 on order and a 28-200 alongside it would be a great 2-lens set for my daytrips. David | Flickr

Mar 07, 2021 14:24 | #46647 Hello folks, I ended up purchasing the Sony A7 III with kit lens last weekend. I have been looking to grab this camera ever since 2018, but it was still a hot item for a long time. Finally decided get outside and snap a few pictures using the Helios 58mm lens. I really enjoy how Sony implemented their focus peaking compared to Fuji X cameras. Also, editing images in Lightroom does not feel like my computer chugs every time I cycle though images. 500px
