The examples show older Sony cameras and all comparison with Adobe which is not the best product color wise (compared to say CaptureOne). I have seen examples on FM but then those are typically heavily processed.

Ok

I haven’t seen a lot of Sony FE 35mm 1.4 GM images yet, but what I have seen thus far is very very persuasive. Irresistible. The exceptional performance combined with the small size is giving me the sense that this is something very very special. My Sigma 35mm DG DN 1.2 Art may be going up for sale soon. ;)

Earlier this week an excellent photographer on FM captivated my interest in a color profile prduct by Cobalt.

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1685313 (external link)

I tried it out and it has solved a long-running problem I’ve had with certiain colors on my Sony a7R II. For some reason some magentas/purples/reds would be so hopelessly out of displayable gamut that my only solution was to dial back the saturation. The Cobalt profiles successfully shift the colors into displayable gamut, which recovers other-wise lost detail. It’s expensive ($50 usd), but I’m very happy with the results.

The color really looks great. I looked at the link with the sliders you shared and my interest is piqued my interest for sure.

I don't think anyone here has got one yet. Surely it must be getting closer though! My only small concern is that the images I have seen, aren't in my style and subject matter..... But I don't think it'll be an issue.

I'm on the fence tbh. Based on what I've seen of the samples, it seems that the bigma and 35i rendering/bokeh is superior and it's not like either lens is soft. Some of the GM samples on FM reveal that the bokeh isn't the best when the backgrounds get complex.

If I didn't already have the Bigma I'd probably go with the GM based on size, but the 'upgrade' to the GM involves a loss on the sale of the Bigma and I'm not sure if it's really the better lens for me given my use cases for the Bigma and 35i.

Pre order still locked in though as I need to test myself

My Sigma 14-24mm arrives today...I’m hoping to get captivated by it and forget about the 35GM for a while. :)

Show me some F9 sun stars with that. I am considering that to pair with the 35 that I have on order unless Sony announces that 16/1.8

It is $50 so may try it but just wish on the product page they showed the differences between C1 and their product. In examples from FM, yes looks good but the person posting those shots is very good in pp, I know that as I have seen his videos about Sigma 105mm f1.4 and other lenses. I wish I was even 10% as good as him.

I ended up getting Sigma 40mm f1.4. Wish it was here this week so I can use it for the weekend shoot.

Congrats on the 14-24 David and I’m also enjoying your recent macro shots. I thought you owned a 12-24 already for some reason? Maybe got my wires crossed. What’s your current lineup?

Carlo, do the latest I series lenses have the same AF-C issue that the sigma 45 has? I was wondering about the 65. Looking to add an 85 and undecided if I should go for the GM, the sigma DG DN or go a bit wider with the 65. Too many choices
