Compared to my A9, my A7rIV has more greens when I'm taking POC portraits.

In the DPRE Studio Scene comparison tool, the A9, A9II and the A1 do much better on skin tones than the A7rIV.

Interesting Tim. I just tried that on my monitor and the a7rIV looks better to me. As an example, the a7rIV on the black gentleman has a more natural, brownish skin tone while on the other cameras, the skin looks too red. Viewing the Asian girl, to me her skin looks best from the a7rIV as well for the same reason. Too red with the other cameras on my monitor.

Let it be known that my monitor is not calibrated beyond factory settings. I'm using the BenQ PD2700U 27 inch 4K Monitor.

on my calibrarted monitors...the riv colors look mighty bad...more green, more yellow. The a1 looks good, so does the original a9. the a9ii seems to be too much red like you mentioned you see.

All that is moot really to me...I shoot portraits with a gray card and that really helps balance it all out. I really need to learn to use my color checker passport...but I am too dumb it seems, I just don't get it after watching several videos...

I'm using a calibrated 32" BenQ SW320 4K monitor here, although it has been 2 months since the last calibration. In the past I've found the colors are stable and it's a waste of my time as an amateur to calibrate every month like some folks recommend.

I agree with both of you on the reds, to me the A1 and the A9 look the best of the four.

I received a color checker passport for Christmas...same issue...need to learn how to use it.

2 shot hand help pano of the Green River canyon in Canyonlands NP. I had no idea this place was here. I told my wife as I was driving we should check it out. I was speechless when I first set my eyes on the Green River winding through a deep canyon. It was hard to capture the grand scale of the canyon. That is a 4x4 road that winds through the land. I remember only seeing one vehicle on the road in the few minutes I had to capture my shots from the overlook. Amazing place. I have some wider shots that I will work on. It dawned on me later that this was the place I saw in a photographer's gallery in downtown Moab. His shot included storm clouds overhead and was quite impressive in print.

Me using gray card has never helped me. I want to try the color checkers to see if they help. I just did the test in my calibrated monitor and see the ugly A7rIV colors. Now using this camera myself I don't see them. I can try side by side with my GFX but need to have some free time. DPR site says they using the standard Adobe profile, maybe that is the issue.

Just got my Sigma 40mm f1.4 Art. Holy guacamole, this thing is huge and heavy.

Quick shot. I had to sell my Fuji GF 45mm f2.8 but now looking at the shot from GF lens a week ago, I am having second thoughts.

Fuji 45mm f2.8 GF, @f2.8. The rendering, and the way highlight shadow transition happens, looks better even though it is a slower lens. Maybe this is due to the medium format look. I should have done side by side before selling it.

The first shot is the typical DSLR Sigma ART rendering....strong microcontrast making the tonal shifts really abrupt and harsh...it creates flaws that you don't really see with the naked eye. That was sort of the trend when the sigma art line came about...microcontrast, vibrant colors, *pop* being all the rage.

Interestingly, sigma seems to have reversed course with their mirrorless (the ones that aren't available for dslr) lenses as they have a very flat rendering that is pleasant for portraits.

One from yesterday. It was quite windy and I didn't planned for the day lights savings time change when I scheduled the shoot couple of weeks ago. Single 5' octa and table as the reflector.

Thoughts on the new compact G lenses? Its making me want an a7c :)

A7c with 24+50 would make a great little travel AF kit

The 40mm lens has my attention. Nice set of compact lenses.

Only watched the DPreview video at this point, they seem to suffer from LoCA a lot, which could be a deal-killer at this price point for me. Will look at other videos later today to see what others think.

Saw that too but don’t know what to think of it. Gerald Undone said he felt it was at an acceptable level although visible

B&H has the Sony 24-105 G lens for $200. Oh so tempting. I sure could have used it on my last trip. I kept switching from my 16-35 GM to the 55mm to the 100-400 GM.

May have to sell my Tokina 90 macro and Zeiss 35 manual lens. Those are my two least used lenses.
