Simple shot because I'm in a rut right now.

Really nice, and looks difficult to pull off. The blur gives the photo a great sense of speed.

The shot itself is easy at faster shutter speeds, but at 1/15, you have to be willing to throw away a lot of files! That particular car was really flying through there, and they hit the curb, so there is a vertical movement you have to hope doesn't affect you too much. I love slow pans, they really show off the speed.

almost 6200 frames through the a9 this weekend, only a couple of times did it fail to acquire focus at all, which is really good IMO. The only real issue I encountered was with metering, for the first two or three frames at times, it would overexpose by at least a stop and a half, and then it would adjust and it would be spot on...other than that, it performed really well, at normal shutter speeds of 1/40 and faster, it was like recording video, each frame was focused.

Whoa! have fun going through all of those! How many do you think will get tossed?

I love these shots also. I've never pulled on off too well. Nice job! Hope to see a few more from your >6k frames this weekend ;-)a

I have made it through the first 3K from Day 1...and 2400 went in the bin, now, that is not to say they were bad, but I would pick the best out of the sequence of 10-15 of each car for that burst...20 FPS goes by fast! So I am really just culling down to the best stuff...and some of the deletes are ideas I had, that just didn't work, or were not interesting.

In this shot, the 20FPS is really beneficial, and why I wanted an a9...to catch these cars off the ground, its a split second thing, if you start your burst at the wrong time you miss it...but at 20FPS...never missed, combined with the AF speed of the a9...holy crap...I used to get 4 or 5 a day off the ground, the timing was that tough...now, I have tons of flying cars!

Super cool Travis...that is a slick car and an outstanding capture by you. It's convincing proof that motorsport photography can be beautiful. :)

FE 35mm f1.4 ZA bokeh is a great rut-buster. :)

I'm in a health rut. The shingles sucks. Supposed to be camping in the SC mountains starting today, but had to cancel.

How was the FE 70-200mm GM? I read so many varying reviews. I get the sense that it's good, but may be the weakest lens in the GM lineup.

Thanks David, yes, it can be more artistic, if you really make the effort to do something different, that is what got me started and allowed me to stand out several years ago from the standard point, shoot, freeze method that amateur track day photogs did...

If it is the weakest link...that is one strong chain...it was a rockstar. Better than any of the Canon 70-200's I have shot with, and that is all 3 IS versions...when paired with the 2x TC it was a little less accurate...which was disappointing, but it was not so bad that I didn't want to use the pair. I only shot 173 frames with something other than the 70-200, and 5000 of them were without the TC. I really can cover most of RA with just a 70-200...it would have been really nice to have the 100-400 too.

^ Glad you're doing ok Michael. Hope the same for Daniel and others there in Florida.

---------------

I'm doing good. We got hit really hard here, but I just have to replace some carpet. I've had power for a few days. Other people will be waiting awhile.

Just a thought from Daniel
