(2 edits in all) | Apr 26, 2021 21:45 | #47837 Today a healthcare-based art company sent me a request to purchase a 1-use license to print around a dozen of my photos. I've made this sort of sale many times over the years. But, this particular company sends me an email with this line in it: "Also, let us know your preferred payment method so we can pay you after we acquire the files." I'm just about 95% reject any dealings with them at this point. Meaning, even if they might be willing to send me payment first, the fact that they even said this is so insulting to my inner anti-scammer that I just don't want to deal with them at all. I'm just about 95% inclined to reply that they can go **** themselves. Meaning, even if they might be willing to send me payment first, the fact that they even said this is so insulting to my inner anti-scammer that I just don't want to deal with them at all. Agree? Disagree? Curious how some of you would handle this. What makes this especially weird is that they sent me a list of photos that they wanted months ago and I provided them an up-to-date W9 tax form per their request (pretty standard stuff) and they are just now getting back to me. Most companies I've worked for, or with, required delivery of the goods before making payment. However, I can see why the way they worded it might offend.

However, I can see why the way they worded it might offend. My personal response would have been something like..."Okay, my preferred payment method is an EFT immediately on receipt of the files." On the other hand, if it's triggering your inner anti-scammer, then tell them either payment up front, or don't do business with them. Maybe I'm over-reacting; which is why I'm posting this here. Like I mentioned, I've always succeeded in receiving payment before I send the client a Dropbox link to the full-size photos. David | Flickr

It just strikes me as bizarre to order something from Amazon and expect to pay Amazon after they have delivered the goods. Services are different. Someone cuts my hair or my lawn and I pay them after they have completed the service. But, I'm not providing a service, it's a downloadable product. I'd ask for 10% (?) upfront balance on delivery. At least that would test their genuineness.

This is another photo I scanned today using my new plugin of my future wife in the center with her mom on the left as you look at the photo and her older sister on the right. This was probably taken around 1960, so about 61 years ago. I scanned the negative as a positive in Silverfast 9 as a 48 bit HDR RAW file. I opened the negative in LR Classic and using the Negative Lab Pro plugin, converted it to a positive image. I finished editing in PS by removing dust and adding the black border. On my previous scan, I hadn't realized that when I imported the image from LR to PS, it had the color profile set to Pro Photo. I couldn't figure out why the uploaded image looked duller than on my computer. Now I have the color profile set to sRGB in LR. Needless to say, I'm pleased with the results I'm getting. Oh, that's a Nash Rambler Stationwagon behind them. When we married, that was the car my wife drove for a few years. I've pondered on a tracker before, but I figured they would be too tricky to set up, especially when its pitch black!Apparently you can set up and polar align in "minutes"
