My daughter likes them but I think the grandkids aren't as interested unless it's about today.

It's funny how the older one gets, the more reflective one is about the past. Even as a young adult, the past and my family history didn't mean much to me. I was too busy living in the present.

i recently told my niece to take many pictures to have as memory because in the future it will be good to look back and to share. she's a young teen and could care less heh..

another niece, she hated pictures and didnt want to be in any of them. months later they were looking at old pictures and she asked why she wasn't in them and her mom told her that she didnt want to. she was sad and made sure to be part of the pictures from then on :P

maybe the 85GMii is in the horizon with 1.2 aperture and linear focusing. I will cry if it comes out especially if it's a little smaller and heavier :P

If I was to do it again, I'd get the sigma over the 85gm. reviews shows it being sharper and it's faster. bokeh is pretty good too but the gm bokeh balls look nicer.

I’ve been pondering the DG DN too but read reports of it not tracking well I.e first shot in focus and none in focus after that. Not enough people seem to have it though to see if this is actually an issue (not enough people talking about it anyway)

since i started Real Estate Photography, I earned close to 100K already. It might be a good reason to try the nitch. not to brag, just to inspire.

wow grats Vinz, good to see you doing well. it's amazing how you took the risk and went into something new and different and doing good with it.

My girlfriend and I have officially booked our dental graduation trip! We have both been fully vaccinated since February and plan to keep this a socially distanced photography/hiking trip. It feels so good to have a trip to look forward to again. We are doing predominantly Airbnbs with some hotels sprinkled in at the cities on the map below. This is our first time in these states, so we are beyond excited. I can't think of a better way to really put the A7RIII through its paces.

Unfortunately, some of the big photo spots are still inaccessible due to COVID, but I feel we have more than enough to explore. I would appreciate any recommendations from those of you who have been to these places or photographed in similar landscapes/climates.

Thanks!

Congratulations on finishing dental school!

Looks like an amazing trip for the two of you. Have fun!

So Photoshop has sky replace. First I have heard of it. I had replaced the dull, gray background on this photo last year when it was taken. I also removed the background sticks. I didn't care for the replacement on a number of pics so I need to keep those skills in the bag. Opinions?

Hey Bill, nice job, many wildlife photographer have been doing it for years.
I might even consider removing the the left branch & a portion of the branch on top of bird.

The less distracting things in the image draws the eye to the subject.

I like where you put your signature, nice job !!

Hopefully I can take better photos than an Uncle Bob this trip :-P

I don't want to be the guy blocking everyone's shots at Horseshoe Bend

I'm sure you can outshoot uncle Bob lol. Don't forget the photo vest though

If you like pockets for filters and extra batteries it's either a photo vest or cargo shorts...pick your poison. :p

new lens (35gm) and new purse :P

the 35gm is amazing!! It's makes a light setup and the IQ and bokeh is breath taking. really blown away how close I can get close to the subject.

Thanks David, been contemplating the 85GM for like forever. The “slow” af puts me off but I should really just give it a go and see. If it was ok I would probably sell my 135GM and keep the 85. I absolutely love the 135 but I was chasing that 135L look and it doesn’t render that way so I’m not overly precious to it. 85 could substitute nicely. The 135 AF is amazing though so I’m torn

I'm sitting around waiting for an 85 GM mark ii for the AF as well.... that said, never actually tried on an A9, it should be faster than normal.

Nice. That 85mm doesn't look much bigger than the 35mm.

It's a beautiful capture Rob. The sharp subject against the gorgeously smooth background is beautiful enough, but the fact that it all works together as a monochromatic color scheme makes the image all the more special.
