Well isn't that just awesome...the screen protector film that the original owner put on the A7r2 had a loose corner that wasn't sticking anymore...it got snagged on the bag taking it out today and it pulled it most of the way off...too bad some coating stayed on the LCD.

Travis, if you search Amazon for “sticky stuff remover” it should take the remaining stuff right off. It dissolves gum and sticky stuff

Edit - I assume you mean the screen itself isn’t damaged but the actual protector has delaminated?

35GM. Bokeh is good for closely framed shots, but for loosely framed shots it can get gnarly.

That said, I may keep it for the AF. But it will live alongside the Bigma and 35i. Don't judge my GAS lol.

I totally get it and I can't judge since I used to have five 50mm lenses and one FE 55.

This conversation made me laugh.... and made me feel good about my relatively frugal purchases!! :p

Haven't posted for a while, so here is a pic I took a couple of weeks ago, my daughter on the left. I spotted the shadows and grabbed a few shots. It wasn't till after that I realised I got an air shot!

I've sold a lot of lenses lately - mostly Canon. Then I check in here, catch a bad case of GAS and buy a 35GM.

No good. Would it help to install a new protector?

I don't think so, it has this UV film or something stuck to it, and it might just make it harder to see the screen.

Yeah, the protector had some sort of film on it, it is a bit iridescent, not sure if it was a UV film or what, but some of that film stayed on the LCD. The LCD seems to be fine. The protector had been coming loose and had some bubbles on the edges and it was starting to get annoying.

I have been so frustrated with that body this trip, it seems like it is taking even longer than before to write the files to the card, and that is with a Sony Tough Card. I am about to start saving pennies again for either an r3 or an r4...not sure which.

a7R5 is the way to go :P
There should be a screen protector that sony included over the actual screen. I can't recall if they did it with the a7R but with the a7r3 I see the 2nd layer of screen so I never bothered adding a 3rd layer to it.

a quick search got me this. looks similar to what you have going on.

I cant view the video fully at the moment, but it looks informative.

edit: there was a recall in tough cards where some bodies could not read them. maybe check yours to see if it falls into the line.

I think that might be what I need to do on the r2 and the a9. Thanks for that.

I already had 3 of the Tough Cards replaced under that recall. So it isn't the cards. Maybe I have just gotten so accustomed to the speed of the a9 an a73.

Thanks for posting that link. After returning one tough card that had failed, I forgot to check to see if my other cards were part of the recall.

Looks like 2 more tough cards are going back for replacement.

Yay, back on the Internet today!! A tall pine tree very close to our house (and directly above our power line) took a direct lightning strike on Monday night. Scary! The pine tree looks like some giant took a giant-sized potato peeler and peeled off 15’ long strips of bark off the tree.

The strike knocked the power out to our whole neighborhood, but being the direct recipient of that totally unwelcome nonconsensual power-rape caused us some damage: Our Clothes dryer and Heat Pump/Furnace are both fried, as was our Internet modem and wireless router. Could have been so much worse, so I’m pretty happy about.

Haven’t called Insurance yet…hoping they got us covered on the major appliances. The dryer was brand new (December 2020). I’m guessing that beautiful pine tree’s going to need to come down now…wonder if it got cooked inside.

it's ok. first play with the tracker. then you can play with the 20g. that's two days of enjoying new toys instead of blowing out the fun in one day :P
